Marvel's Magic Powers Explained

The magic of Marvel is starting to get out of hand. In more than just one way. So since we’re getting treated to the Egyptian gods in Moon Knight and finally getting some Doctor Strange action in May, why not go over how Magic works in Marvel, why it’s not as cut and dry as you might think and who are some of the magical characters that we might see very soon. Spoilers but I’m talking about Doctor Doom again because I will take every chance I can to talk about the Infamous Iron Man, Metal Face Doom or Victor Von if you think you can survive doing that. Doctor Strange has been abusing magic long enough, let a real mage take a crack at it. So in this video we’re talking about everything from magical sources to magic’s history in the Marvel universe starting with it’s connection to the embodiment of the universe. Oh yeah, we’re getting weird in this one so get ready. Mr Stephenson has a lot of talent and I am here hoping that he has a loooooong career. Cadence, tone, and energy are perfect. Pronunciation is on point. Crisp and clean while stylized.

Magical Energies could be a form of cosmic energy derived from either the main universe or one of the infinite realities of the Multiverse, but it’s not the same kind of cosmic energy that beings like Captain Marvel can manipulate! #2. Magic is formulaic, it required knowledge and skill, there are all sorts of techniques, esoteric formulas of special words/phrases, arcane rituals & certain ingredients and objects needed to manipulate this particular form of cosmic energy! Captain Marvel can manipulate the energies of the universe, but it’s not just about what kind of energy she channels, it’s about how she manipulates that energy. Captain Marvel can utilize cosmic energy, but all she can do is fly and blast energy from her fists, she doesn’t have the magical knowledge to weave that energy into reality to cause magical effects to happen!

In Marvel Comcis, do magic users actually require spells to perform magic? Like, doesn't what gods such as Thor, Loki, Odin, Zeus, and Khonshu do a type of magic? I've always been confused on the nature behind the powers used by gods compared to sorcerers like Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch, as different sources state powers of the gods is "mystical in nature"

My headcannon for MCU: Cosmic energy is pure power channelled through a being = Captain Marvel/Thor/Olympis gods Spell Magic is borrowed at a cost/ such as energy or light bent to someones will /follows set rules = Dr Strange /Loki/ Dark magic = forbidden as there are no rules, the cost can be your life force = Odin (needed odin sleep to recover)/ Agatha (lengthened life and drains other witches magic to recover) Chaos magic is reality morphing at no cost but very hard to control and destructable = Wanda Dimentional power = Dormammu /Ennead Gods Hopefully we will get a better explanation in Dr Strange 2!

You can't categorise Strange in one category, if the comics are any proof. Not to mention the MoM trailer shows Strange using chaos magic, as he has in the comics. But you're right about his primary White Eldritch magic being more rigid

Actually the 8th univers. After Secret Wars 2015 the new universe was created and the cosmic Hierarchy was reestablished. The universes that inhabit this new multiverse was actually populated by Franklin Richards and the Fantastic Four. This information is far from important but still needed to be addressed due to millions that watch your videos.

I think magic is the ability to manipulate reality a little bit at a cost of something but you can ignore the cost if you borrow power from a God or powerful being. Whereas cosmic energy is a power source that imbued to someone and it's result may vary. In short Magic is borrowed power and Cosmic power is imbued or earned

@@Ktr-1142-ema I think the first appearance of the 7th stone was Eliminator #3. But that story was almost two decades before they unveiled the story of the first firmament, and the many iterations of Universes - they have no connection.

Well he's not wrong, because in the MCU I don't recall her using telepathy. Pre Wandavision her go to use of magic was telekinesis but never telepathy. Now she's casting a variety of speels but still no telepathic abilities
