Origin story of "The One Above Most". Jim Starlin telling us Thanos is a power fantasy without telling us Thanos is a power fantasy. And the cherry on top is that Thanos, who is for all intents and purposes "God", is defeated. By Thanos in the past. "I used the Thanos to destroy the Thanos".

Yeah basically it crashes the idea of TOAA as he brought up the omnipotent paradox that most people weren’t aware or interested in as that’s usually a question you see in religion or philosophy debates/ discussions.

Maybe it was an artifact of whatever beings that exist on or over the same level as TOAA. The crown thingy or the beyonders creator being. They are redoing the entire pantheon of the marvel god power structure so this was just the beginning of the quest. We're so far beyond the infinity gauntlet at this point that it's a mere trinket by now.

I would love to see this story in real time now that we have Warlocke, Eros and Pip in the MCU. Bring back Thanos through means of time travel or the multiverse. He’s been the only villain I’ve truly appreciated on screen.

To me, Jim, Starlin, and Donnie Cates are the same level of insanity that the editors enabled. And Jim Stalin is the type of writer, who, when you’re writing a small, psychological journey like the early Thanos work in Adam warlock that reveals his self at a slower pace, and is very focused, made me like the character a lot. Thanos, most frightening aspect of his power is his mind. His intelligence, alien, and genius level gets to be totally ridiculous when the writer/editors both and Jim Star Lanes time as well as today when you have him do a 360 on his intelligence and do the most ridiculous things to get to feed it, or, if we are looking at modern comics, making Thanos be able to beat anyone, including so-called abstract entities, which could easily destroy him. Ever since the infinity gauntlet, he’s able to beat characters. He has no business, even comprehending. The worst aspect about him is to have writers change history of comics themselves simply to boost up the character. What Jim Starlin will likely remain bitter about, is with the release of the film, and the Cashcow of the character he created has become, they don’t need him to write any more damn stories. Jim wants to do art, and marvel simply wants to create a cartoon character.

this kind of works with the more recent ultimates story that took them outside the multiverse and basically revealed the one above all is basically more so the top of what those in the marvel multiverse can perceive and comprehend, with the implication that he is just the start of a whole new tier of beings on par if not beyond him. like am i the only one that feels like this kind of works in hindsight?

I enjoyed Thanos Infinity Revelation, Infinity Entity, and Thanos Infinity finale. I also liked Infinity Siblings and Infinity Conflict, so I had high hopes for Infinity Ending. However, I was disappointed with how abruptly it ended. It still annoys me, even after reading the entire saga six or seven times. Whenever I share the story with friends or online, my frustration comes through in my tone. I understand that Jim Starling had some behind-the-scenes drama with Marvel and the (alleged) incident where Marvel gave his story to someone else, but the ending was just pitiful.

Now here's a problem. There is only 1 Living Tribunal in all of existence, he exists in all realities, and every time you see him it's the same being. This means that the story should be considered Canon. Meaning Astral Regulator Thanos is canon. Unfortunately marvel breaks it's own rules and has stated these stories aren't.

I think its just best to assume NOTHING is canon in comics, they change, reverse, retcon, kill, bring back, whomever and whatever they want at anytime that they see fit. Its always been this way, and always will be, because locking themselves into a canon, would hamstring their story writers, whod have to check and recheck everything they wrote to ensure it followed continuity, across every publication.

Man, this is so good. Thank you for explaining. I have so many questions, like most importantly, is the present Thanos is still the One Above All after the ending? Or did it went back everything to normal? That ending was a clip hanger for me. And one more thing, this is probably the most important impossible scenario of why the One Above All is why he/she is that he/she is. I understand everyone is thinking the One Above All is limited to what he can do, but i was thinking, maybe he did that to himself in purpose incase something like this will happen? I mean think about it, he foreseen something like this will happen, so he limited his power in a way that he himself can not even solve it. It’s like an insurance for fail safe.

Rumor has it that Jim Starlin’s next story about Thanos will involve Thanos obtaining the ultimate power, overthrowing the entire cosmic pantheon and eventually God. But in the end, Adam Warlock will appeal to Thanos’s senses and Thanos eventually relinquishes the ultimate power. Oh wait....that sounds like EVERY SINGLE STORY JIM STARLIN EVER WRITES....
