Absolutely outstanding and astounding! The height of her jumps, the energy, the rapid spin of her pirouettes, the speed in all she does, her mastery of exhilerating fouettes, the impeccable lines and solid technique throughout etc., and she acts with her whole body and soul! Furthermore, she is so versatile ! She also has the rare gift of originality of style! Not to mention her sensitive musicality! This is a LEGENDARY ballerina! THANK YOU, Bundu Ballerins, for the care and all the work put into this compilation and tribute.

Alexandrova is a very fine example for the "old imperial style" from the Bolshoi ballett School. I guess she is leaving the stage and I hope she will teach and coach!

Прекрасная подборка. Мария Александрова во всем блеске и разнообразии. Сила, грация, огонь. Отдельное спасибо за Никию, не часто попадаются записи этой ее партии. Что Александрова - идеальная Гамзати, было изначально ясно, но она и в партии Никии хороша. Сцена смерти великолепно исполнена, а бравурная часть (танец с корзиной) так просто идеал, лучше Лопаткиной, которой (при всем моем к ней обожании) трудно справиться на такой скорости со своими длиннющими ногами и руками. И еще: Александрова - лучшая в своем поколении принцесса Аврора. Эта партия "кусачая", мало кому дается и мало кто ее любит (Плисецкая так откровенно не любила). А все потому, что технически сложная, местами силовая, при этом эмоционально закрытая, суховато-грациозная, немножко "фарфоровая". Александрова, которую чаще представляют бравурной и размашистой, на удивление органична в этой партии.

She has to be one of the greatest leapers in ballet history. And she is a perfect Gamzatti. Perfect attitude for that role. And, I think her partnerships with Nikolai Tsiskaridze were great. Seems like they personified Bolshoi aesthetic. And she has a very pretty figure.

You're right 'Nikolai Tsiskaridze and Maria Alexandrova have known each other since the Bolshoi Ballet Academy; they're close friends and danced together for the duration of Nikolai's career. Perhaps only Alexandrova can pierce through Tsiskaridze's persona, she knew how to 'work' Tsiskaridze & handle his mood swings etc.

perfect attitude and skills for Carmen ! but I have something to say about the Russian (Cuban) Carmen, it is a plagiarism from the Carmen of Roland Petit, caused by the Cold War period, when Russian dancers were not allowed to dance Western choreographies .....

@@tarantellalarouge7632 A plagiat? Never ever! Carmen steps choreographed by Maja Plissetzkaja stage arangements by a cuban artist. Alexandrova is a great Carmen more than many others who thougt they have to do it.

@@susannevollmer2347 at the time of Cold War, in Paris, Roland PETIT, created a modern Carmen with his wife Zizi Jeanmaire, (1948) and Maya Plisetskaïa saw it and was eager to dance it. But for political reasons (cold war), she was not allowed to dance it, so she asked to a cuban choreographer Alberto Alonso (from a communist country) to adapt it for her (1967). That's why those ballets are so similar, same music (Georges Bizet, Carmen) of course, but same steps (with flexed feet), same costumes, same attitudes, etc... if you are interested, you can see it by yourself on YT and make your own comparison between the two and think what you want to think about it .....Art must be seen by everybody but it is also nice to "return to Ceasar what belongs to Ceasar" ..... and Maya Plisetskaïa was right to do this because she wanted to be Carmen so badly at the time !...

@@tarantellalarouge7632 Thank you for this answer. I know the ballet from Petit quite well and where are there same steps? Please read the memoirs from Plisetzkaja. Two absolutely different works and music - arranged by Tshedrin her husband. And very different Carmens Zizi Jeanmaire and Maja Plissetzkaja. I prefer Plissetzkajas and Alonsos Carmen. The Petit Carmen seems to me a bit oldfashioned with all these sensationel attributes. But in the old times it was a sensation the bed, the short hair, the corsage and cigarettes on stage!

Thank you, wonderful and amazing. I loved how you showed her Gazmatti again when she was older. The difference is astounding. You could see how good she was going to be at 16 but, when she matured a bit, her control and confidence in her dance - just wow. Thank,you so much 🙏🙏🙏👵🇦🇺🩰🩰🩰🩰

Alexandrova es maravillosa. Ya desde muy joven poseía las cualidades q se desarrollaron con los años y la experiencia. Técnica sobresalente, musicalidad, ductilidad en los distintos roles, y para mí lo q es quizás una de sus cualidades más importantes es q se adueñó de los diferentes roles y "fue" Raymonda, Ganzatti, Odette/Odile, Esmeralda y todos y cada uno de los distintos personajes q interpreto. Sin ninguna duda una de las bailarinas más importantes del mundo para mí!

❤❤❤ никто так,к созалению , сегодня не танцует, и такая стремительность была только у предыдущего поколения!!! Мария этим владеет, как и всем остальным !! Очень жаль, что с определенного момента она перестала, практически , появляться на сцене Большого театра , а мы в театр ходим смотреть на своих любимых исполнителей, а не на руковощителей балетной труппой.....

For her 'Myrtha' she needed a large space to create dramatic attention . . and as Alexandrova travelled from one space of the stage to another, you will have admired the sinister look, the powerful & sharp attack of Alexandrova's performance of the role. I love Alexandrova ❤️ 😍 💖. And as for their 'Talisman PDD' if Lobukhin's rather adventurous, then Alexandova's being delightful with her grace and beauty ❤️ ❤️ ❤️! We, the audiences are captivated absolutely. It's a great compilation video @BB and thank you as always ❤ 😊.

So, I’ve always seen Masha as a power ballerina, suited for jumps that suit her presence onstage. She’s a ballerina that every girl who studies in Moscow and loves jumping and extravagant ballet: literally Большой Балет 🩰. I prefer Myrtha over Giselle; Gamzatti over Nikiiya and OMG her leaps into Basilio’s arms are the kind of courage and abandon I aspire to have in every step. Full commitment and total disregard for what could go wrong. One of my early coaches Yelena Ryaninkina really challenged me and told me to look up to Masha for her power… behind the scenes, many in Bolshoi would say: if only she had longer arms and legs…🇵🇹🇧🇷🩰👏🏻 Yelena taught me one of most important lessons of my career: never dance scared; when dancer hesitate falls and errors happen. Masha is fearless!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 10:35

An Engineer, Professor Mittal from John Hopkins University Baltimore Maryland in a research, he said he was surprised to see the cricket insects' 'jumps' were similar to that of a ballet dancer and they managed to land nicely on their feet! Now, with your other comment 'very strange and interesting dancer'. . and I take it that you mean . . Alexandrova is an exceptional or remarkable dancer with great talents ❤❤❤❤❤ and absolutely she is!

Музыкальность, харизма и законченность в каждом движении. Мария Александрова в моем сердце ❤ Смотрю на Сомову и думаю только "Какие красивые ноги". А когда смотрю на Марию и Нину , то не выделяется ничего отдельно. Каждый образ сделан с умом и воспринимается цельным.

This compilation and tribute is a such a treat, thank you so much for posting this! Maria Alexandrova is like no other! She is such an astonishingly riveting, fearless, and exciting dancer, always giving her audience 100%. What a powerhouse!! She is my absolute favorite Myrtha in that superb 1998 Bolshoi Giselle clip you included that also featured Svetlana Lunkina as Giselle and Nicolai Tsiskaridze as Albrecht. I seem to remember reading that both Maria and Svetlana were 18 years old at the time and making their unforgettable Bolshoi debuts with that performance. I also especially loved Maria's exciting partnerships with Lantratov - what a wonderful team they made! She deserves every accolade!

Surely yes, but she has special qualities. Io trovo che abbia in comune con la diversissima Oleaya Novikova la inclinazione al balletto brillante. Trovo che sia valorizzata quando si diverte e si diverte quando c: è molto brio o molta passione. Non è una ballerina romantica o amante degli adagi.

@@TheBunduBallerina She is along with other principals suspendet. Nearly half of the pincipals must go. I just saw again a part from her Aegina with Lantratov: She is absolutely great. I dont know who can replace her!

Absolutely fascinated by this dancer. She has everything, and yet she has nothing. She starts with everything. She shows up with all guns blazing. I begin to criticize her physique and then I realize that dance has nothing to do the 'shape' of one's body. She is perfect. Her elan is innate. Her naturalness is as fake as it's needed. I love this dancer. I love Maria Alexandrova.

Мария - потрясающая, элегантная, но энергичная и очень яркая техничная балерина, такого уровня артистов уже нет в нынешнем Большом театре. Большое спасибо за великолепную подборку с ее выступлений!
