Andy Heyward, Jean Chalopin, and Bruno Bianchi co-created the animated science-fiction comedy tv show Inspector Gadget in the mid-1980s. The series, which debuted on September 12, 1983, features the voice of Don Adams as the title character. It was the first-ever animated series to be broadcast in stereo. The show initially aired 86 episodes spanning two seasons from 1983 to 1986. The plot revolves around the adventures of Inspector Gadget, a clumsy, dim-witted detective who is a cyborg human with numerous bionic gadgets built into his body and is sent on quests to foil plans by his archenemy Dr. Claw, the leader of an evil organization known as "M.A.D." and is unknowingly aided by his niece Penny and their dog, Brain. It was a super popular 80’s cartoon and it was also a welcome change from all the action and superhero cartoons that were popular during the time.
