Marvin and Tammy ruled in the 60's. Together their voices were incredible, and each song was a gem. Everyone was so shocked when she passed away so suddenly. Many believe that is when Marvin became more introspective, and his music changed. Still amazing, but different. Please do more, and imagine what it was for us back then to hear this on the radio for the first time. It was magic...

Always loved Marvin Gay and Tammy Terrell❤️ together. Was so sad when she passed. I just started HS in 1970 , she was maybe 9 years older than me when she died from a brain Tumor. And every time Marvin came out with a new tune, I always thought of her. She had such a beautiful voice that blended so well with Marvin.

Asia & BJ, you’ll love their "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing", "Ain't No Mountain High Enough", You're All I Need to Get By"!!!!! Marvin never fully got over Tammi’s death at age 24(brain cancer 1970). I think her voice was as good as Diana Ross.

This and "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing" are my favorite of the Marvin/Tammi duets. You always got the sense that those two were totally in love with each other. It's not clear if they ever had a liaison in real life BUT they were soul partners. Marvin never got over Tammi's death. Even if they weren't so close it'd be hard to get over it as she collapsed in his arms during a concert and it was discovered she had a brain tumor. Over the next couple years Marvin literally saw Tammi wither away until she died. He was the only one from Motown that was allowed to go to her funeral. The last Marvin/Tammi album was mostly Marvin and Valerie Simpson (who sounded a lot like Tammi) Marvin was hesitant about doing that but he did so as the profits and such would go into paying Tammi's hospital bills and such.

The story of Tammi Terrell’s life & terrible illness is so heart wrenching. Before she eventually passed in her mid 20’s due to multiple brain tumours, the exec’s at Motown insisted she fulfil her recording contract, regardless of the debilitating headaches she was experiencing. Marvin & her family were the only ones who sympathised with her😢

Marvin Gaye was part of early Motown in the 1960's. He had a lot of great duets with Tammi Terrell such as "Ain't No Mountain High Enough", "Your Precious Love", "Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing", "You're All I Need To Get By", "If I Could Build My Whole World Around You" etc. Sadly Tammi died young in 1970 at the age of only 24. Marvin never got over her death.

Tammi and Marvin were Motown Royalty. They made such beautiful music together and loved each other, in a non- romantic sense. Tammi collapsed on stage and Marvin carried her off. Sadly, Tammi died at a very young age of a brain tumour. Marvin never really got over her death. They were beautiful together. 💔👏🇨🇦

My Dad came out of the WWII generation. He would make fun of our music. He called it hippie music. So, back in the 60s we had CKLW in Detroit on am radio. I remember riding in the car on our way to Tiger Stadium. This song came on . Dad turned it up and lit a smoke. Now, that's when you knew dad was loving this song. I caught him more than once when a Motown song came on the radio. Dad passed many years ago. But, in his later years he spoke very fondly of Motown.

This song is sooo good, have loved the first time I heard it as an 11 yr old in 1966. This is a classic Motown song, the likes of which there were hundreds in the 60's and 70's. Mowtown was a smooth running factory, with writers, arrangers, musicians and singers. This gem here was penned by the trio of Brian and Eddy Holland, and Lamont Dozier. A group called the Elgin's first recorded this for the label and it was released in 1966. A year later, Motown singers Marvin Gaye and Tammy Terrell teamed up on the same song. I love the bass and guitar on this- incredibly addictive. Good choice you two- keep up the great reactions.

On April 1st 1984 I remember hearing about the death of marvin Gaye on my transistor radio. According to a news broadcast, his father was very religious and objected to the music marvin was making. His father shot him during an argument. Marvin was trying to salvage the relationship between him and his father at the time this happened.

Marvin never sang with another female after Tammy passed; he was really impacted by her death... But, this duet left it's mark in music.. the lyrics are so much cleaner, impactful, honest... Love expressions were SO MUCH different and SOULFUL... Hate to sound cliche, but love songs were way more meaningful back then, music you could dance to... Fun reaction!! 🎶🎵🎷🎤🎹 PEACE!!
