Her parents were Joseph Ball and Mary Johnson. That doesn't sound Albanian to me. A lot of weird stuff is on the internet. It makes it hard to know what to believe sometimes. There is no evidence she has Albanian roots.

Her name was Mary Ball. Her parents were born in England, Joseph Ball and Mary Johnson. She was not Albanian. That is myth started by a man named John McCallum from Reuters.

Read The Widow Washington by Martha Saxton. It gives a more accurate representation of Mary. Put yourself in her place and your view of her may be different. Don’t think Ron C, as noted below, saw the daily struggles of a women during that time.

Washington's mother was a handful. They were never close. She never acknowledged his accomplishments, complained constantly, and caused him deep embarrassment when he was president by petitioning Congress for a living stipend, implying that George was not providing her with assistance (which he most certainly was). Her biggest contribution to George's future probably was in refusing to permit George to enlist in the British navy when he was a teenager, which would have profoundly changed American history.
@touchofdumb
@touchofdumb 3 жыл бұрын
stflaw: I think very likely she was a sociopath: she tried many times to thwart George’s career when it benefited her. But with the Brit navy block she did indeed make one enormous albeit inadvertent contribution to his career and to America.

@@Prodavac It is confirmed dude. Washington’s mothers name was Marije Balaj. You ain’t like to hear this because you support Russia and you don’t like the Albanians. It’s a fact no matter if you like it or not. Washington left a letter that says. Where ever the Albanians are living around the world they should always be supported and protected by America against Russia and Serbia 😎 Just because Albania is corrupt it doesn’t mean that Albanians are dumb. A.Einstein was also an Albanian Citizen and traveled with an Albanian passport to America. There’s a passport of him at the national museum in Tirana. The only country in the world who doesn’t give a statement to this or doesn’t like to talk about this is Switzerland because he studied there 🤭

The Ball family was known as the Balliol's in Scotland. You may as well just exchange the last name of Gospatric with Washington and Balliol with Ball, because that is actually who they are. Gospatric, Earl of Dunbar, was born around 1047 A.D., son of Maldred, son of Crinan "The Thane" KING OF THE PICS, and during the battle of Hastings, he sided with his Scottish descendants (King Malcolm the III of Scotland, his great uncle) and sacked the city of York, killing many Normands. When William the conqueror found out about this, it sparked the "Harrying of the North", in which William completely decimated the countryside. Gospatric, paid a heavy tax to keep his lands, but eventually fled to the castle of Dunbar, Scotland, where he remained the rest of his life. Two things to take from this... Mary was Scottish royalty, and two... George Washington was actually - a Pict - .. the native inhabitants of Scotland, since the neolithic age. The lineage gets fuzzy beyond Crinan The Thane. His parents were not well known.

Why didn’t you mention George Eskridge?? George Washington was named for him. Pretty significant.
@ahe79
@ahe79 Ай бұрын
Yes, Mary Ball Washington’s mother (Mary Johnson Ball Hughes/Hewes) requested for Eskridge to be young Mary Ball’s guardian. Here is an excerpt quoted on the website of The Museum of the American Revolution regarding this: “under the Tutelidge and governorship of Captain George Eskridge, during her minority.” There are many other sources that cite the same thing. The video only mentions her half sister and brother in law, not George Eskridge as whom she lived with and was ward of. Additionally, George Washington’s father, Augustine Sr., was introduced to Mary Ball by Eskridge. Augustine was his brother-in-law through his second marriage, (Elizabeth Vaulx) and had recently been widowed. (Jane Butler Washington, half sister of Elizabeth Vaulx) George Eskridge is my 9th great grandfather and his first wife, Rebecca Bonam (her brother was Samuel Bonam Jr., who married Mary Ball’s half sister, Elizabeth/Eliza Johnson, mentioned in this video) is my 9th great grandmother. My line is through their daughter, Margaret Eskridge Kenner, who was a Patriot of the Revolutionary War, by feeding (supplied 625 lbs. of beef) and aiding/sheltering soldiers.

Fiction vs Fact here: I was a teenager in the 1980s when the mini-series of George Washington was played on TV with Barry Bostwick cast in the leading role. Rosemary Murphy often played overbearing mother types and she was cast as Mary Ball Washington. The writers certainly played her as an embittered widow against George's stepbrothers getting the better properties and she was stuck at Ferry's Farm. She also was jealous of the wealth and social standing of the Fairfax family in Williamsburg. The producers really played her up as someone George went out of his way to avoid. She was some comedy relief but as to how much of the story being based on actual fact is really up for spectualation.
