Oh, I am very interested anything Mary Beard has to say about ancient Rome. She brings history alive and I wish I had teachers like this.

Hi Mary! I’ve missed your recent talk at the Barbican because I had a bad cold. Hope to see you and be inspired by you on the next occasion. Thanks for writing another book, will surely enjoy the read. I’m living in London but am originally from Augusta Treverorum and grew up surrounded by Roman history. ❤

I mean I think it's slightly dismissive to say that the casual interest of so many men in the roman empire is 'some macho fantasy'. The romans are extremely interesting!
