She then married Lord Darnley, who was one of the biggest mistakes she ever made. He was the decision that led to the fall of her reign. Mary ordered Darnley to be murdered, and once he was she fled to Elizabeth who had promised would help her. But when Mary had wrote to Elizabeth for help she didn't know she would be fleeing from a murder charge. Elizabeth had Mary imprisoned at Sheffield Castle for 14 years. Elizabeth couldn't let Mary leave nor could she stay. On February 8, 1587, Mary Queen of Scots was beheaded for treason. Her son, King James VI of Scotland, calmly accepted his mother's execution. When Queen Elizabeth died in 1603 he became king of England, Scotland, and Ireland. The last episode of the series was heartbreaking, it was beautiful how they had Mary and Francis together in the end. ❤️Elizabeth won the battle, Mary won the war❤️
