For young Sheldon Cooper, it isn't easy growing up in East Texas. Being a once-in-a-generation mind capable of advanced mathematics and science isn't always helpful in a land where church and football are king. And while the vulnerable, gifted and somewhat naive Sheldon deals with the world, his very normal family must find a way to deal with him. His father, George, is struggling to find his way as a high school football coach and as father to a boy he doesn't understand. Sheldon's mother, Mary, fiercely protects and nurtures her son. For 12 years on "The Big Bang Theory," audiences came to know the iconic, eccentric and extraordinary Sheldon Cooper. In "Young Sheldon," audiences get a chance to meet him in childhood, as he embarks on his innocent, awkward and hopeful journey toward the man he will become. Jim Parsons, who plays the adult version of Sheldon on "The Big Bang Theory," narrates.

Meh, I think that she mainly cozied up to Missy cuz she felt out of place being back and wanted validation herself for still being in her family's life. What Mary did in this episode seems like classic behavior for her except that she came clean without being caught.

Bruh, I just love how Sheldon shows up with random issues at random times, but ends up teaching a lesson to people, unknowingly. 😂 He was absolutely right, Mary and that other lady (Mandy's Mum) did NOT have the right to baptize the baby. * facepalms *

Great reaction! Also it’s episodes like this that really signify why Mandy is how she is, given how she was raised. Though defending Mandy McAllister is a full time job in this fandom considering how many people are ready to not take her side at any given moment. She and Georgie are my favorite characters, along with Meemaw who I’m glad has so much screentime this season her story is also my favorite.

11:08 CTRL+Z IS the shortcut command for "undo". I remember when someone first showed me st work about ten years ago, it changed EVERYTHING! Almost as much as learning CTRL+C (copy), CTRL+X (cut) and CTRL+V (paste), which are my bread and butter that I use EVERY DAY! I used to be a "right-clicker", but learning those shortcuts shaves off valuable seconds!

Both Jim and George are so good together. I really love them so much, especially their interaction to each other. They're like brothers. This is the type of in-laws that everybody likes. While both Mary and Audrey, on the otherhand, are just horrible. They argue almost anything. From religion to CeeCee. I don't know which one is worst. That being said, its interest to see their interaction after George's passing. As for Mandy's reaction, totally justified. Instead of getting her permission, they did that. This is sheer disrepectful. It doesn't matter what religion they are (Catholic, Baptist or anything in between), this is just wrong in ANY level. By the way, I really love Mandy and Georgie's interation. I have to agree with Georgie. Mandy is turning into her mom (Audrey). I wouldn't be surprise if some elements of Mary is slowly manifested to her as well. I feel so bad for Jim. I could only imagine the kind of pain/suffering everytime both mother AND daughter are in the same room. By the way, where's Connor?

Supposedly goergie and mandy getting a spin-off show and thats the reason they ending young Sheldon , because even tho goergie is a side character he has been getting more screen time than the sheldon character so they decided to end the show and make a new show for georgie and mandy

This is one of the funniest episodes of season 7 with some great comedic lines from both grandmas, Sheldon and Georgie. But also one of its most infuriating, mostly because of how much Mary's character has regressed spectacularly. Not too long ago in Episode 4, we saw a new, transformed and happier Mary. And for all the headaches she has caused to her family in seasons 1 to 5, I was ready to completely forgive her character because she seemed to have a good redemption arc from season 6 (mostly since the Georgie-Mandy pregnancy thing) until now. Last Episode 5 was unfortunately the beginning of her downfall. At first, I thought the subplot involving the TV pastor was not too bad since Mary was living a « belonging crisis » and was probably searching for a new religious community as a support group. But to just have her reverting back to her former religious community which has mistreated her just because of slapstick comedy is very insulting to what she has gone through. Unfortunately, episode 6 has made it worse with this non-consensual baptism subplot. As for Audrey, she's still a much, much worse mother than Mary (at the very least, Mary genuinely felt guilty about the baptism and confessed). But Audrey's behaviors are consistent with her narcissistic wicked witch character. So I'm not really surprised about it. But Mary? That was a huge slap in her character's face as well as her redemption arc... All the other characters (George, Missy, but most importantly Georgie and Mandy) have gone through very satisfying arcs. And yes, even Sheldon has gone through little character arcs during all the seasons of the show. While he can be annoying, he has deep down a good heart and is very attached to his family. As for Connie, she seems more like a static-type of character which suits her well at her age, even tough she has recently done some little mistakes this season 7, especially concerning the gambling room subplot... But I will let you tell us about it at your next reaction. :)

i know the baby is, well a baby, but when she gets older, even as young as 5, she has the choice whether to become religious or non religious. it might or might not conflict with her parents, but there's a chance she might not have the same beliefs as them, or might want to learn more about something.

Mandy did say she wants CeeCee to have that choice herself instead of it being forced upon her. I don’t think CeeCee has to worry about Mandy and Georgie in that regard. It’s just Mary and Audrey she has to worry about.

Respectfully I don't think 5 year olds are even capable of even understanding what religion is. Thats the late toddler stage and 5 year olds are just barely beginning to learn how to read, write and learn basic math. At that age, little kids will just do what their parents do because they are mimicking them; thats how they learn. Just because they say 'I don't like it' doesn't mean anything at 5 years old because they don't have the mental capacity to understand things. I don't think kids are capable of making such decisions, like not being religious, until they are a bit older. I'd say between 8 and 10 when they can really start comprehending things and can make real decisions for themselves. Then again, a lot of religious parents won't give them that option and will try to make them 'grow out' of the atheist stage.

Just when I thought Mary was actually learning to tone it down with the religious BS and learning to not force it on others, THIS episode happens 😑 Mandy actually has the right idea that not every parent, especially older ones, seems to understand. She doesn’t want to enforce views on her child, and wants to let the child decide their own views.

I understand that the show is resolving around Georgie Jr. and Mandy, because of the spin off but personally I don’t think the episodes are that great or funny. I liked the past episodes better

They’ve had two centric episodes and two side plots they’re actually kinda reduced compared to S6. I’ve watched every episode again and actually Mary and Meemaw more screentime (albeit only by a bit these are short episodes)

i think thats the perfect punishment for these ladies also court house is how id get married, weddings are overated imo. its too much money, theres always fights about not outshining the bride, and if you love someone enough to know you wanna spend the rest of your lives together then you might as well already be married. plus im not religious, another reason im not one for weddings

Yes, you should NOT baptize someone else’s baby… but it is still just a baby that won’t remember anything about it. At the end of the day a baptism is only some drops of water and mumbled words. Sure, it is symbolically important for the person doing it but truly meaningless and inconsequential to anyone who doesn’t care.
