Sheldon and Mary are finally home from their educational sojourn in Germany. After a hellish journey home comprised of four connecting flights and many screaming children, all is well until Sheldon realizes Mandy, Georgie, and baby Cece are unwilling to move back out of Sheldon’s bedroom. That leaves the garage and sofa as possible sleeping options, with Sheldon phoning Meemaw in the middle of the night when neither of these is preferred.

@@gmcjrys technically, from a financial standpoint, it makes sense. They don’t make as much money from TBBT as they do from YS, so making its fans happy is kinda more important, as new profits are made

@@nicbentulanor it’s all stemming from trauma reactions. Sheldon doubles down when his father dies. He’s unrealistically mad his father left him. He’s holding a grudge and doesn’t want to talk about what really happened similar to Mary. Just my two cents. Just because you can have a photographic memory doesn’t mean you can’t have a wild imagination (which Sheldon has too).

Yeah, but it doesn't make sense. 1. It wasn't spring break from college 2. Mary was supposed to be in Bible study, (in young sheldon its at their house,so doesn't make sense), not very realistic that she would skip it 3. Sheldon in tbbt said he and his dad locked eyes, if they did, why wouldn't they talk to Sheldon about it? 4. Sheldon didn't recognize Mary's voice, or saw her face

I was always wondering if the writers would touch upon why Mary in the BBT doesn't coddle Sheldon half as much as the one in Young Sheldon does, don't get me wrong, she still clearly dotes on him there too, but she's a lot more straight forward and sarcastic with him in BBT as opposed to YS where she just cannot stop babying the living daylight out of him to the point of annoyance. And its nice that they showed the transition in YS for what happens in BBT. Being stuck alone with Sheldon for three months was such a nightmare even his own mother had enough. Really gotta give a huge shout out to poor Leonard for putting up with him for all those years.

They only did that because for some reason George became a fan favorite. It's bullshit they pulled this. Honestly, just because Sheldon is smart and likes to talk about what he learns doesn't make him a jagweed. People just don't like the fact that someone is smarter than them and wll never achieve it in their life time. Sheldon is being ostracized even by his own family. No wonder he left. Idky they make such a big deal about him leaving in BBT when they treated him like shit. Even his own mother does it.

@@ceceboni7510 I think a lot of people didn't actually dislike him just because he was smart. It was more about how Sheldon acted selfishly and arrogantly without considering the feelings of others. It took me some time to warm up to him because he did have some genuinely nice and emotional moments in TBBT, but that doesn't excuse the fact that he was rude most of the time!

I think what it is is that in TBBT we get Sheldon's memory of what happened. In YS we get the other side of the story. My sisters and I each have different memories of the same things that happened in our childhood, the reason is because we are all different people and perceive and remember things in a different way.

@@nicbentulan it wasn’t Sheldon who committed the perceived adulterous affair, therefore he could not have sought confession for it, even if he wanted to or believed in the religious validity of confession. As a child, it would have been difficult, perhaps impossible, for Sheldon to understand, put into words, and communicate them with another person what he believed he witnessed and the ramifications for his family thereof. Therefore silence is not an irrational response given these circumstances, nor one that requires a retcon.

I almost cried at the end of the episode. So thankful to the writers for handling the george cheating controversy with such care and delicacy. Always loved how much he loved his family but couldn’t wrap my head around the cheating. But knowing that he didnt and was faithful to his family means a lot to is viewers❤.

I don’t remember who it was, but years ago I saw someone in the comments of a KZfaq video comment that they thought the writers would make the mysterious woman George cheats with turn out to be Mary in a wig. I only remember reading that prediction once. Wherever that person is, I hope they stuck with the show long enough to see it come true. :)

I happy to know he never cheated because I definitely remember Sheldon mentioning this in TBBT when he was talking to Penny but damn it was Marry in a German Schoolgirl and they were roll playing shit poor Sheldon thinking less of his father because of this. I thought his father noticed him though cause he said they never talked about it Sheldon didn’t talk about cause he was ashamed of what his father did but George didn’t talk because he was embarrassed to be caught with his wife. Again though glad he didn’t cheat with anyone especially Brenda makes me wonder how George’s death will affect Sheldon now plus never saw Mary as the role play type guess after a few weeks you do get frisky

Wait a minute, in BBT, Sheldon mentioned that he physically met his father mistress and that she even tried to buy his love and sympathy with love. Plus, you expect me to believe that Sheldon never brings on this incident to his parents even tough in last season, he snitched on his sister after finding out she was smoking, Sheldon is incapable of keeping secrets, it’s practically his main flaw, I seriously doubt that he never talk about this incident with his mother especially since he did talk about it with his friends. It doesn’t make any sense, I don’t understand why the writers tried to turn Sheldon as a compulsive liar by pretending that every story he told in BBT never happened.

It isn't like he was a paragon of virtue in TBBT. He was very capable of nasty behavior. Why would he draw the line at lying. It is also possible that his much bragged about eidetic memory wasn't so great after all and he simply didn't remember correctly.

@@rocketmom60 He could have also twisted his own memories. There's such a thing as false memories or misrepresented memories where a person changes things in their own mind. They either add to a situation or twist things around. A person does this without even realizing it and believes that the memories are accurate when they are not. Humans are all susceptible to this, our memories aren't very reliable and I don't think eidetics are immune to this. He loves George but this incident would lead him to fester some resentment. It could also get him to be more suspicious of his father and any other woman that are around him. Maybe there is some other woman who ends up being nice to him and he starts suspecting her of being the "other woman". So he twists things around in his head and makes more out of it than it originally was.

To put it short, cope mechanism. You end up hating what you lose, so that you will less the pain. Georgie also said Mary was a mess after George dead, and that alone would open conflict between what Mary says and what she does.

I think their marriage definitely has more rough time than good time. They fight a lot and that's how Sheldon remembers. Traumatic memories tend to overwhelm good ones.

I could imagine this is what they could of potentially done, my guess is that back in BBT the writers did have George cheat on Mary, but then when it came to YS must of realised if they actually went through with It the fans would of most likely been in up-roah So they found a way to stick to Sheldon’s original reason for knocking 3 times but gave it a twist so that it was an unfortunate mistake of perspective.

So here’s what I think about this. In Big Bang this was a serious moment and it really added a lot to Sheldon’s and penny’s relationship. But here it’s just played off as a quick joke which undermines that whole moment. I know people want the happy ending between them but I just don’t think this was the way to go. Also they were building up this George and marry affair since season 4. All of that just for them to stay together? This season isn’t over yet of course but I don’t think they’re going in that direction.

I think that's an interesting twist. We were let to believe George would have an affair with Brenda, which didn't in fact happen, but that's only up to us and our expectations. Also, even though Sheldon has a nearly perfect memory, he is still subject to misunderstanding certain things in life, as in his not as omniscient as he, - and many others, - believes himself to be. More than that, given how his parents are about talking about sex, especially to Sheldon, this part may never had been talked though with him. Needless to say, he might've been so traumatized be seeing what he had seen, he may have never wanted to discuss that, leading to him perceiving that the way he did for the rest of his life. His parents were embarrassed to talk about it, and he was too shocked to ask; adding to his belief that his perspective on things is the objective truth, this leads to what it led to

@@ivan.gryazin Sheldon not knowing isn’t my problem with it though. Also the twist with him not sleeping with Brenda is interesting but that should’ve been wrapped up long ago. Instead they just continue raising the steaks where at this point if there’s no affair it seems like some time was wasted.

This was the best way to fix George’s cheating. Im another series this would probably feel like a cop out, but between Sheldon’s poor social intelligence and childishness it is very believable he would do something like this. Plus the fact that the show and the producers confirmed that Sheldon’s memory has a habit of being very self serving when he is an adult. ( in the sense he exaggerated the bad) The fact that both of them WANTED to cheat but chose to stay faithful allows a similar spirit to their problems at least.
