I work in a movie theater and at a certain time of day, there's always a huge rush of people that come in to buy tickets and popcorn. literally, just as it's about to start, me and another co worker look at each other and go "posts everyone!"

This gag is so intricate. Catching dinner ware with your foot, having the picture frame fall the exact same way every time, the piano moving in the right manner... I just love these scenes.

FUN FACT: When Glynis Johns (Mrs Banks) was called to do the film her agent told her “Disney wants to see you about being in Mary Poppins”. She thought that she was being offered the title role of Mary Poppins, but at that time Julie Andrews had already been cast, and Glynis Johns was unsure about taking the role of Mrs Banks for she wanted to be Mary Poppins. It wasn’t until she was presented with the “Sister Suffragette” song that she whole heartedly and happily accepted the role of Winifred Banks! Just imagine how different it would have been if Glynis Johns was cast as Mary Poppins?

When an hour strikes, everyone needs to keep all the breakables all protected. And that gag happened only three times. 6 PM before Katie Nanna leaves their service, 8 AM in the morning of the next day when the nannies arrived, and 8 AM again on the next day before George heads to the bank.

That there is British stoicism and our reserved nature accurately portrayed in cinematic history.

It often struck me as ironic that Mr Banks was perturbed by Mary Poppins and regarded the outings to which she would take his children as "extremely odd" but treated his household as needing to "stand by their posts" because of a mad neighbour firing a cannon whenever the hour struck as completely and utterly normal.

Mr. Banks: "And one thing more, Winnifred." Mrs. Banks: "Yes, dear?" Mr. Banks: "We need to have a very serious chat with Admiral Boom next door about that blasted cannon of his! I've got nothing against the Admiral, mind you, yet, I like his spirit, but that cannon is shaking our entire house to pieces every single time he fires it! This is the third time this week he's fired that gun of his, and so far, we're lucky there's nothing broken in this house!" Mrs. Banks: "George, if you think the neighbors will complain, the Admiral simply won't listen to them." Mr. Banks: "Madam, that is exactly why we should talk to that man! And his first mate, Mr. Binnacle in it as well!" (puts his hat on and marches out the door on his way to the bank).
