@@soph1172 Depends on the country's laws. Until Mary Tudor, Mary I, became Queen, there was never a Queen Regnant in England. Both her husband, Prince/King Phillip of Spain and the next married Queen Regnant, Queen Mary II's husband, William of Orange, were Kings or England too. That changed with Queen Anne as husbands of Queens would be Prince Consorts, such is Prince Phillip since 1952. King William III was only King because his wife was heir to the throne and he remained on the throne after Mary's death in 1696. This Mary, Queen of Scots, never gave her husband Darnley the title of King, which she could have, so he was always known as the Queen's husband.

She didn’t make him one tho, he wanted to equal their power and become king but kings were „higher” ranked than queens and so she didn’t agree.

Tbh Queen Elizabeth I was manipulated by her advisers to kill Mary, Queen of Scots. All the proofs of her guilt were faked and she found out too late to save Mary plus maintaining Mary was too expensive. Tho Elizabeth had no right to sentence Mary to death since she was not subject to the English crown.

Take a look at history in Spain Elizabeth l was a tyrant but in England a hero.Everyone is just fighting for their kingdom so don't blame them for protecting what is theirs. besides Mary was killed for treason and Elizabeth was always one step away from the choppung board during her sisters rule so it's clear Elizabeth wasn't gonna give up what was hers
