I can see why there are a lot of fakes; the real ones have to be imported from Japan and are quite pricey. I got a real one from a local shop (the pattern on the ears is very distinct and makes it easy to tell if it's genuine as well as the tag matching as well).

I've seen some Rilakkuma merch at Barnes and Noble. I saw this rilakkuma plush pencil case and plushie but I don't know if it's real... Do you know if Barnes and Noble sell real rilakkuma stuff? Also, great video!!

Hiii I’m looking to buy the cherry blossom bear and I see one on you’re website my question is is it authentic bc I saw on at the store today and it was 65 but then one on ur site is 34 and then there’s one that’s second hand but it’s more expensive??? It’s 40??

Great video Mary! I remember when I first got into Rilakkuma, I bought a bonjour plush off of eBay thinking it was the real one only to learn (overtime) that it was a fake. Now I’m extra careful about buying them, inspecting the paper and cloth tag, and reading about the line/collaboration to make sure I get the authentic one. What do you think about the US licensed Rilakkuma dolls? I personally like the Japan versions because they are higher quality, more dense, and have the cute lines on the face. Though I’ve realized over time there are a few changes to the authentic Japan ones too..ie many no longer have the real zippers on the back, eyes with brown threads rather than black..any idea on why they are doing that? Would love to see a video about the Rilakkuma changes over time :). Have a lovely day Mary! - Lena

For sure, I originally have done the same as well, especially when I didn't know anything about the brand. I like some of the US ones, for example one of the Sumikko ice cream collaborations I really liked. That is a good point about changes. It's interesting too, because when I look at some of my very old plush (like pre-2007) the quality and style is also very different! I'll keep that in mind for a future video!

I'm pretty sure I don't have any fakes (mainly coz of where I've bought them from), but i do have some really weird looking Sumikko Gurashi stickers which are definitely fake but I do use them coz they're funny looking haha.

If the one on Amazon is the EXACT same one as the jellybeet one, then it should be fine. Jellybeet is COMPLETELY AUTHENTIC. A lot of things on Jellybeet you can find on Mary Bear’s website, and most of Mary’s products share the exact same prices as Jellybeet. So take a look at the Amazon one and see if it’s the same product. If you have no luck try Mary bear, hope this helps!

Yes jellybeet is so great and trustworthy! My boyfriend got me a tokage from there and is was amazing quality and 100% authentic :) hope this helps.

That's hard to say, there are a lot of independent shops as well outside of the official Rilakkuma Stores. San-X's website does have a list of all their shops. In Tokyo alone theres Kiddyland, Tokyo Station, Skytree along with some nearby ones. I did do a video visiting all the Rilakkuma stores in the Tokyo area!

Please help!! Is C & H co. Ltd a legit supplier of Rilakkumas? It's a Korean company. I have a 3 Rilakkumas from that tag (It's gray with the supplier's name + San-X logo). I wonder if those Rilakkumas I bought are original ^^;;

I’m not aware of them, but it could be korea licensed... you can check if it has a silver seal from sanx on the back and states overseas licensed!
