Whilst entrepreneurs should in general be applauded, no one suffering an outage ever says “well it’s ok, he tried really hard”… as a network architect you shouldn’t be applauding this approach in any way. I believe that fiber technology could eventually pose a competitive challenge to your business. However, considering your rural location, the process of its adoption might be slower. Additionally, in the States, fiber installation typically requires a significant demand from the community before it becomes available.
@stevejones8392
@stevejones8392 8 ай бұрын
In the uk most rural areas have access to at least sogea (fttc), with the analogue switch off happening soon, Openreach are having to prioritise rural locations as they have to be able to provide voice services. Without analogue service they have to provide broadband, generally via fibre. Unfortunately wisps will have issues if they don’t provide voice alongside broadband services. I know I wouldn’t want to be relying on a service with non external cat5/6 berried in a field!

I mean it seems pretty smart business but more so something you’d see out of a caravan park. How do you project this will go when fibre rolls out across the country or with Starlink growing? Your “customers” will be out of a service. I’ve got 1gbps FTTP for £30 a month as an example. In a pretty rural area. Also burying Ethernet with no protection is a little risky.

Are there laws in the UK for WISP owners/operators about keeping logs of what people do with the connection you have purchased for on-selling? It would be nice to assume your customers do the right thing while online... but if they don't and the plod comes knocking at your door (as the owner of the WISP equipment/connection) because something dodgy is going on, can you pinpoint who has been naughty downstream?

I'm surprised local councils allowed you to put the dishes up. They seem to find ways to stop anything productive in the UK.

yo, um maybe instead of not charging installation fee u can -50% the price idk but hey you've been doing it for a while now so even if u were to do this they might get a bit upset.

How has starlink effected your business if at all , how will BT full country wide fibre rollout due to complete in 2025 effect your buisness?Originally there was very little option other than a wisp solution like this if wired broadband wasn't available in your area . I do agree the personal touch is important and a USP even after full fibre

To be fair, he’d be better off doing Starlink installs for customers. If I was a customer and saw the state of his “core” network, I’d be worried

Gotta commend the entrepreneur in him, but that network, for all of its devices, is hanging on by a thread.

Your creativity used to be so much better. Now days your uploads are all over the place and for the most part, it's all content around something we've seen before.
