A sneak peek at the Mas costumes for Trinidad Carnival 2023. Carnival in Trinidad is in February and every Carnival band has their costumes on display at their mas camp. So, we went around to several of the Carnival Band Headquarters to see what their mas costumes looked like.

Yes there is similarity between the costumes of the bands

Good day thanks for sharing. As a southerner it was nice to see that San Fernando was featured. What about jouvert bands? I love south jouvert.

As I am originally from south Trinidad I did not feel it was right to leave out the south bands. Sorry no Jouvert bands as I did not have the time.

Big up Kalicharan Carnival,that's my home for Carnival, I think it's over 30 years they have been in Sando Mas, btw We Mas Camp new location is very close to me, lol...another great video

@@pointboy12 I’ve been with Kalicharan Carnival around 20 years now, well minus 2 years in UWI and 1 year when I played with Tribe, so yeah since 2002…and I plan 2

@@TrinbagoVibes I am ashamed of this but I have to admit it. My godmother lived around the corner from Kallicharan and for 2 years working in San Fernando I went every day by her for lunch plus slept there some nights but never knew that Kallicharan was around the corner. I only found out when I did this video.

@@pointboy12 no worries, that’s just how it goes, to be honest it’s only in the past decade they really upgraded the mas camp and stuff…back then you may not have known it was mas camp

Well done once again! Clear commentary and panning was slow enough as to not be dizzying. Additionally, in this Documentary Style video, the background music wasn't overly loud and distracting. Including Costumes from San Fernando gave a sense of balance and objectivity to your presentation. Well done. 👏 👍 🎈

The Bahamas Junkanoo, costumes are very very much more creative than Trinidad costumes. I find that Trinidad costumes are just feathers and beads, like they run out of creativity. Junkanooo Costumes are the best..

Yes many of the bands are mainly bikini and feathers. There are however a few bands that have other types of costumes.

I sadly, but must agree with you @ACB2K Trinidad has not lost it's Spirit and Glory of Carnival. However, she 'IS NOT' the Mother of anyone's Carnival. Her tenacity for Creating Unique, Challenging storytelling Mas on the move just isn't there anymore...😥 There are still troopers far and few, but the masses have either taken over or have forced many existing to switch to the New Normal of supply and demand. . .d Mas of d 2 piece and fries World 🌎 which we now live in...

@@csa1435 Hmm okay. I think because the name is Trinidad carnival its seen as great, but hmm. I really don't see it. I've seen other carnival and costumes and they beat Trinidad by a good mile.

Costume making should have been an industry in Trinidad and Tobago. Supplying the whole caribbean.

Some of the Mas camps make costumes for Carnival in other islands and in the US.

@@ACB2K I would not say it has lost its glory but it does have competition in the Carnival arena. However that competition has created a revenue stream for some Mas camps.

Not much difference between bands. All the costumes look alike or similar. Watch one band you've seen all . Lack of individual ideas. It's like copy cats.

Yes I did find there was similarity in the costumes in each band.
