I do not understand his obsession with the "cloud". Why on Earth should 1 trillion IoT devices *have* to connect to the cloud with all that what implies for constant data in transit, weak to no network security, and needless centralization of storage and processing power? Peer to peer networks and blockchain technology point to the opposite direction : decentralization. Is that cloud obsession because the tiniest and weakest IoT chipsets have barely any processing power, meager memory and ridiculously low to zero storage, so they can only become dump terminals constantly connected to servers? Well, if that's the case and you are happy about their state how do you plan to secure them? How are you going to implement strong end-to-end encryption if the tiny "IoT chips" do not have the processing power required for AES-256 encryption, for instance? Regarding the singularity and the emergence of super-intelligence, if it were to be modeled after the human brain it would be explicitly decentralized. Our brain is massively parallel and effectively has a peer to peer structure, with decentralized memory, logic, emotions, and low and higher functions. It is "clocked" slow, but compensates for that by the trillions of synapses (which is also why it is so power efficient). There are no dump groups of neurons connected to central server-like fast processing super-groups of neurons. Our brain is like a computer that is both a server and a terminal, from the lowest to the highest scales.

We need to optimize the resources so we can all live in luxury. I think the point is to connect all floors, walls, chairs, doors, windows, etc to make everything smart. With the smart edge devices they know when they need to connect and when to just be smart but offline. Most of the time they would be offline sending little to no data back through the cloud. I think this could be useful for everything that has to do with managing people, things and resources around the world. As we are more and more people in the world, and we all want luxurious surroundings, we want to optimize how we use the space, things and resources, we want to optimize how we interact with other people, it could help to make everything smart. When you enter any room, it knows you, some of the walls might have displays that display personalized information for you, it only powers up lights when someone is in the room, it adjusts heating/cooling according to people being there and needing it or not. Want to relax? The IoT word will guide you to an available chair, bed, room, whatever you need.

Nikolaos Skordilis It’s like imagine none of your neuron is connected! This is how things are together. But this cloud will connect them together. When you said dencentralized, it’s actually one order order than what masa is doing. Only after things are connected, can you decide to decentralized or centralize.
