The Mascato Youth Choir is based at the coastal town of Swakopmund, Namibia. Established in 1996, to date, the choir has developed into a fully-fledged music tuition programme providing music tuition to coastal youth. Since its inception, more than 2000 coastal youth have been members of the Choir.
The choir was founded on the philosophy for the coastal youth to receive music tuition, and has since become a proud cultural export product of Namibia. The choir is regarded in essence, as a macrocosm of the multicultural Namibian society that symbolizes a spirit of unity and diversity. We are frequently called upon to sing for visiting Heads of States, foreign dignitaries and various groups of tourist. Between 1996 and 2019, the Mascato Youth Choir has worked and performed with over 50 choirs from different countries such as South Africa, England, Germany, France, Canada and even the Yale University Glee Club Choir from the USA. The choir has matured from an initial group of inexperienced teenagers to a polished team.
