A performer in a Disney ShellieMay Bear costume was struck in the head by a visitor. Last year, another performer, also at Shanghai Disneyland, suffered a concussion after being struck by a visitor.

I guess they are just ignorant and do not know how it feels to be inside those character suits. I have not worn one but I can imagine how heavy and uncomfortable it must feel. That guy is such an idiot! Hope they bring more attention to this so others do not hurt the performers.

Granted not all china people are like that but the stigma is there and chinese from other countries are put to shame too. This shows how bad it is. Its messed up

That's assaulting someone, that's a crime. He should not just getting kicked out, they should sue the shit out of the attacker. So others would see this as a lesson, not to do that again in the future.

His definition of fun is not fun at all... You don't just smack someone's head randomly. The mascot should smack him back. Just being kicked out and barred for a mere 6 month is nothing. I don't know why I feel so mad. Maybe because it is so absurd. 😡😡😡

I really don't get it. It is wrong to touch someone without consent, let alone hit someone. For some reason, since they're wearing a suit, it's somehow fine or funny. They seem to forget that there are people in those suits.

If someone does something like that to a character they should be given two choices. Either be banned from the park or wear one of those costumes for the rest of the day without being able to take it off until the park closes.

As a former Tigger and costumed character I say KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF!! Hitting for fun? WTF PEOPLE!! what the he'll is wrong with people who think hitting is funny deserve their passes taken if they have them and removal from the park, better yet, make them ware the costume and hit them. When I was seven, waiting in line to meet Snow White at Disneyland, I saw a man slap Dopey on the head so hard, and it traumatized me. I felt a little better when Snow White complimented how patiently I waited my turn and left a kiss mark in my autograph book.

My cousins cousin hit dale on the head at Disney World because he didn't give him a high five fast enough, dale looked at him gave him a "no, no, no" finger shake, and then walked away from the table! Dale didn't say hello to my brother or me or my other cousins, which I felt was unfair, but I wasn't upset by it, you shouldn't hit someone in a costume! Especially when now I know how heavy they are!

Wearing mascot is really hard I had a chance to assist a performer before and that time fans and cooling apparatus is still not a thing. It's heavy specially the head, the feet makes it more harder to walk and that pile of cloth is heavy and the heat and restricted vision is making it more harder.

Keepit Simple to be fair, not all Chinese people are the same. Those born in different countries know manners 🤐 I keep hearing those are "mainlanders" the worse ones. I once worked at Coach Factory. I'd dread it when a tour buses rolls in. Good for business, but the amount of abuse, disrespect, the clean up, and trying to explain limit rules. It's pretty much fighting with a brick wall. They'll grab items from other customers like it's ok. As far as Disney resorts in California, Florida, and Japan. I just learned to stay out of way. If they start crowding me and grabbing, I get agressive ....and start pushing harder each time. It's sadly the only- way. I want to go to Shanghai Disney, but that would be the last on my list. They even trashed it on their soft opening. Plus It's sad that some places are now banning them. But if it makes it peaceful... I'd have to agree.

Yeah I notice a lot of the mainland Chinese tourists have no respect nor manners. Many NOT ALL. I work retail, and we get a lot of tourists. When they knock things over, they just look and walk away. At least help clean it up, or apologize. The kids are hell too, cause they're always allowed to run about and damage boxes and boxes of toys. And when you tell them to stop, they act as if it's your fault. They just need some respect and be more considerate is all.
