Maserati should worry about making better cars instead of having people delete videos

Maserati this is BS! I have owned many makes of cars over the past 50 years and never considered a Maserati until watching this young man's videos. Ron is NOT your typical "car salesman" and this is why I have personally contacted him to do business with him even though he is 600 miles away from my home. You should be proud to have him representing your company and encouraging him to make more Maserati videos. YOU MASERATI should apologize to Ron for your attempts to censor him.

Dear North American Maserati, I bought Levante because of Ron’s effort in uplifting your brand. Give the man a credit, don’t pick on him.

I am a car salesman of 25 years and retired from full time work in 2017. Every brand has good points and bad points. To pretend a brand is perfect IS not the full story. Like your videos and hate censorship attempts from the factory at any level. You are are on the right track and keep it real.

I actually learned a lot about depreciation from the video. Left me with a better impression of Maserati.

It’s a shame about the video on depreciation Ron. I thought it was a good one and it didn’t really leave a negative view of Maserati. I'm glad you made this video because I have had my issues with Maserati North America as well. I will shipping my vehicle from North Carolina to Germany and I needed some paperwork from them for the shipping company and they would not release it because they said I could not ship my vehicle, I ended up shipping it anyways by against their approval. since when does Maserati think they can tell owners what to do? So sad, I really like them but they seem to be very unpleasant to work with at the corporate level in NA. If they leave a bad taste in enough people they will loose the base loyalty that has made them successful this time around.

Ron - I am a fan of your channel. The insights are always good and come from a place of supporting the Maserati brand. That’s impressive. From Maserati’s vantage point, I can see how they could be concerned that a dealer employee that represents the brand is posting videos with provocative titles that appear at first to disrespect the brand or shine a negative light. The casual KZfaq channel-surfer may only see the title that appears to trash the brand, and not watch the video where you clearly promote the brand. I actually purchase my Maserati Ghibli a few months back because of your videos. I have taken everything that you said positive and negative into consideration to help me formulate my own opinion. It's important to have commentators like you putting out content of this caliber, keep up the great work and you're absolutely right don't let anyone silence you.

I feel your pain friend. I have a another friend I met online who is a service tech with a Maserati Dealership. He says the service techs in his dealership were advised in a meeting to NEVER divulge their technical knowledge in social media. So he cannot give advise to those looking for help with their Maserati's online for fear of loosing his job. Fortunately I have another friend who left Maserati employment a couple years back as a service tech to start his own shop servicing not just Maserati's but Ferrari's, Lamborghini's and other Italian cars. He does service a lot Ghiblis. He loves them. Thinks they are a 4 door GranTurismo with a v6 and QP luxury. He provides technical advise to social media on a regular basis as well as to me via phone conversations and email. This is why I have a KZfaq Channel and post video's of the maintenance I do on my Ghibli SQ4. After all, I am the warranty. So I think Maserati is trying keep inside information such as technical and future products from being leaked because they wish to be the key information outlet period. I can see that as a legit concern for them. I also am very supportive of the Maserati Brand, and will jump on anyone who tries to give them a bad rep by supplying them with facts. Such as depreciation. I did a video on how to replace the light bulbs on the Ghibli. I provided a quote from my local dealership of around $1300.00. That's what the Maserati Dealership told me would cost to do the job. I did my own for $60.00. I do my own oil changes for less than $100.00. Dealership charge just for the oil change is $300.00+, not including all the other crap they say you need like new air filters, cabin filter, etc. I got K&N air filters for my car that need to be cleaned every 50K miles. This is why we do what we do. I love these cars, but their service is way too expensive. You cannot get away with it if you still have that Factory warranty though, as doing it yourself voids the warranty. I am kinda thankful I do not have a warranty just for that reason. :)

Vehicles depreciate to settle to their actual value. And the reason why the (current) Maserati depreciate so rapidly and severely. I have a friend who bought one (new) against my advice. He regrets the purchase. About a 75 % loss in 5 years.Full disclosure.. 25 years in the car biz. 11 years retail, 14 years as a factory rep ( District manager) for high line Euro auto makers.PS.. I was contacted by Maserati and offered a position as a field rep in the west. Co incidentally I happened to be driving ( in my demo from a respected auto maker) from Reno to Las Vegas.About halfway there was a Maserati Bi-turbo on the side of the road with smoke ( not steam) billowing out from under the hood. Yup, manufacturer's plates. I helped the guy out.. he was quitting the position I was offered. We had quite a conversation on the way to the nearest town and tow truck. Obviously I declined the job.

Maserati should hire Ron as brand Ambassador and Consultant in chief . I too had similar passion and sentiments for Fiat and Alfa Romeo in the early 80's. I cannot believe that as we approach 2020 any auto company would not embrace and appreciate a passionate consumer, blogger and seller of their product. Maserati do the right thing!!

I know by experience that in our day and age of digital media and social networks one cannot express ideas or point of views if they are going to be perceived as negativity for a brand... remember also that you are working for them I believe then my advice be careful with your communication. Hey Ron not sure how it works in the States, but here in Canada all our Alfa and Maserati dealerships are link as one. Now I understand your point regarding censorship and no matter what they say it’s wrong period. But I think the simple fact regardless of all the positive you said makes no difference to the company that only heard depreciation which they may find to them is something negative which is ridiculous because all cars depreciate at some point once off the lot lol.....Be careful because you could be entering with them and Alfa down a path of a conflict of interest in there eyes and remember like I said Alfa, Maserati Fiat etc one big happy family that will look out for the best interest of each other. Keep up the great work and it was because of you’re videos my wife bought a white Maserati.

I enjoyed the video and feel Maserati should have had a conversation with you regarding their objections or concerns. With dialog understandings can be reached as opposed to simple ordering you to delete what they don't like No issue with all your brand praise videos. What would have happed next if you refused? Would they have tried to have you fired? Such rash actions are how P.R. nightmares are born. This is a new era with the advent of social media and hopefully someone will stop and think hmm maybe this isn't the best way to handle this situation. We will all be watching what happens next. I'm deeply troubled that Maserati made you remove it from your channel...you said NOTHING to diminish the company in any way! In fact, by mentioning that Maserati IS NOT listed in Road & Track's "10 Most Depreciating Cars List" you did Maserati a big favor! You've always been a huge Maserati fan, Ron, and it's from watching your great videos on your KZfaq channel that I got excited about Maserati and purchased my Maserati Quattroporte GTS three years ago. HOWEVER, I'm VERY DISAPPOINTED in Maserati North America's response to your video. Their response to your video was a low blow and frankly got me thinking about if I want to purchase another car from a company such as Maserati, a company that seems to have no problem AT ALL with breaking bridges with their customer and huge supporter over many years. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that a world-class brand like Maserati would stoop to such low levels! Low grade, Maserati North America, Low Grade!

Hi Ron, in many ways I can only see the positive in this. Fair play to you for providing an honest perspective of Maserati and 'whatever' goes with it. But in positive terms you should be intensely proud of the fact that due to your presence on line, the attraction you create to your videos and the impact you have on the brand, Maserati were actually aware of all of that and from their perspective drove them to make their 'banning' order. Well done and congrats, lets be honest if you were not seen as somebody who could have an impact then Maserati wouldn't give a damn what you say. Well done. Kudos to you sir :-)

Pretty tough Ron, I watched the video, thought you were as honest as always, no way were you slagging off Maserati, can't understand why they requested the take down, we all know they have their issues, you would think it would help to provide a better car, especially the price they are, you want to provide a premium product then all feedback, good or bad should be welcome. Anyway I personally think you do a brilliant channel, enjoy watching your vids, I have learned so much these last few months since we bought our Giulia, about Alfa, Maserati etc, keep on going!

Its a shame that maserati is so intransperant. I remember when jaguar launched the x type years ago... horrible quality, horrible reliablity. But they did one good thing: they where honest about their problems. They told the press that they themselves are also not satisfied with the result and are working hard on improving. When I contacted Maserati Germany quality department a year ago or so to ask if they have had a kind of quality improvement to fix all the rattle issues I was told that there are no issues known.... what a lie! Instead of trying to win me as a customer in terms of honesty they simply lied to me. I keep on fighting with myself if or if not to buy one, but as long as I have the impression that they dont care I think I will end up buying something else even though the Ghibli is by far the car I like the most. My local dealer even got rude when I asked for a with mercedes comparable discount on an stock car... instead of looking for a way to win me as a customer they preferred to lie at me and to get rude.

Maserati current problem started back when Sergio Marchionne announced he was taking the Maserati brand and going after BMW 5 series and much larger sales numbers. I almost cried to hear how FIAT were going to destroy a brand which had over 100 years of heritage and was far more famous than even ferrari. I attended the 2014 centennial celebrations in Italy and shortly afterwards decided to sell my old Gransport which had a fabulous dry sump race engine. During the period that Ferrari were given management of Maserati you really saw the brand start to come back..... but it was never left alone to develop the series of maserati's which were needed. Now we have a mass produced car with loads of chrysler components and a story which just goes downhill ever since. If cars have high depreciation its for one reason, they are not made well. Alfa suffered the same for decades and only the recent ferrari team which developed the new Giulia Quadrifoglio have we seen a change in Alfa's luck. Maserati was always a historic privileged brand that has sadly been written off due to financial greed. I am not surprised they are so sensitive to the truth, it;s even worse when they try to cover up their mistakes and not admit to them. Maserati should by now have been a brand sitting high next to Ferrari, maybe doing the cars and SUV and allowing Ferrari to concentrate on sports cars... it would have worked so much better for both brands. Now Ferrari has to build it's own SUV. VAG have shown how it is done and how to share platforms and cross mix the technologies to the benefit of every brand without hurting the individual brand logo.

Lesson learned...this video saves a lot $cash ...want a Maserati wait for awhile and save $thousands its that simple! Thanks

Ron, couple of things: 1. Your videos are great and have educated me in both brands (leaning on buying a Giulia) 2. Maybe tone down the video titles as they seem really negative and then when you watch the video you actually promote the positive. This may be ruffling feathers. 3.
