I liked that as well. He was a true man of god not a dogmatic pedant. Considering he had to accommodate for many different faiths in his role as chaplain it would make sense he would show interest in other faiths.

Any good priest knows there are many roads to Rome, & how one gets there matters not, only that their faith lead them on the journey. In my personal experience, the Jesuits especially are very liberal in this manner, which is what Father Mulcahey is.

I love how relieved the grandfather is too, and how everyone respects their beliefs. And he's right: the bad spirits do get exorcised.

What's interesting is that that's not something made up for the show. They actually hired a local Korean Priestest to come perform the exorcism

@@emmagrove6491 Another interesting fact: the actress who played the Korean woman Hawkeye fell in love with had a similar story to the character she played. Her family was wealthy, but when she was 6 American bombers killed her mother and infant brother during an air raid against the Japanese. Her older brother ran away to join the revolution, and her father sent her away while he stayed to look for her brother. Her father was then taken by communists to a reeducation camp that sent him out and he died homeless on the streets.

Virginia Lee was always cute she was in a few other episodes. Most notably she was Sergeant Baker's Moose.

I found this in an article. The exorcist is a mudang shaman, and her regalia and dance (probably a dodang-gut which banishes evil spirits from a community) are completely authentic. Likely the reason she is not credited is that she was not an actress but an actual mudang - Southern California has many Koreans who keep the old traditions.

The acting Shamanist was a famous Korean folk dancer during that year and solely did the traditional dance for this scene. This does not mean she is a Shaman witch doctor in real life. We know all actors and actresses are not in real life what they are appearing acting on stage. So please do not assume.

@@naliewon, if she was a dancer simply portraying a Shaman, then her perfectly accurate performance of the authentic ritual is to be doubly respected. And great respect also to the producers of the show, to go to such lengths to ensure that this aspect of Korean culture was so authentically portrayed. Such aspects of cultures foreign to Western viewers are often not accurately or properly represented, as they were here.
