Mashaba: Pundits calling Election’24 wrong - DA will lose W Cape majority; ActionSA surging

ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba says on-the-ground feedback reflects a very different Election’24 picture to one propagated by incumbents and the media. He points to ActionSA’s double digit vote shares in rural by-elections complementing its widely acknowledged strong position in urban areas, especially Soweto where he reckons the party dominates. Mashaba predicts South Africans will punish the chaotic ANC/EFF coalitions; says the DA will lose its Western Cape majority and is making a strategic error shunning the Patriotic Alliance and its leader Gayton McKenzie.

It's highly ambitious for Bra Herman to think the DA can lose the grip on Western Cape. I'm saying so looking at the profile of the DA voter and the track record of the party in that province. In fact my take is the DA will increase in certain provinces and the national footprint.

Herman Mashaba doesn't see the DA on the ground running a 'functional' Western Cape government. Well in my case I'm talking about the excellent run Cape Town to start with. Herman IA dreaming if he thinks the DA will get below 50% . ......or maybe he's just wishing they don't .

Western Cape population: Coloureds 43% Blacks 38% Whites 18% Others 1%. Make your own calculations, bearing in mind the Gayton factor. Herman is perfectly correct in his assumption.

Blacks will surpass the coloured population in the western Cape by 2030, if not sooner. In 1998 colureds made up 60% and blacks 23%.

@@danglybit1 It has been ANC policy for many years to encourage Xhosas to migrate to the Western Cape. They knew that this was their only chance to get a political foothold here. Another factor is the lack of development in the Eastern Cape, with the resultant poverty and unemployment. I live in a small town in a fruit growing area in the Western Cape and see the effects of this mass migration playing itself out on a daily basis. Our municipality simply cannot cope with the influx and the system is slowly collapsing in front of our eyes. It is heartbreaking to experience this personally.

Yes, many see that this political democracy is so dysfunctional and they see these Black South African political men fighting each other instead of working to make their lives better. Every other group is better off than the original indigenous people, especially Blacks. All these Black political parties are funded by the corporate SA which is 80 percent owned by whites. It does not surprise me at all. Have spoken with quite a few of them also in the past, none are interested at all. They say exactly that. It indicates the people are so hopeless, they are not at all motivated to participate for change. Too late now for them to register to vote. Any political party that hopes to run South Africa must have a good respect for the law, because it is only the law that keeps control. This is because the DA does not steal public money like the ANC/EFF do!! Instead, the DA spends public money honestly and properly on maintaining and building new infrastructure for the country in places where the DA governs, and on delivering better quality basic services to the people!! Poor people depend heavily on these services since they cannot afford to replace them with better private ones, like middle class and rich South Africans can! Where these services are properly provided, the quality of life for the poor improves dramatically!!

I grew up on the Cape Flats, now live on the Atlantic Seaboard. On monday i had to attend a funeral in Wesbank and i was absolutely shocked at the living conditions. Infact i had to drive through the area to take a video of how bad it was. I thought to myself. Yes, the DA runs a good city BUT only for a select few. The townships tell a very different story to that of the middle class suburbs. CPT really is a city of two tales. Dont trust me, feel free to take a drive into any of the Townships. And i'm a DA voter as an FYI

Having watched Mac G's Podcast with John Steenhuisen on KZfaq, and the Arte tv Documentary about Mayor Chris Pappas of uMngeni Municipality ( also on KZfaq) where poor people now have solar powered street lights for safer communities and solar panels and inverters to assist them with load shedding and where local businesses are nurtured to prosper and grow, the DA is by far the most progressive, the most compassionate and the most experienced choice to take SA and the Multi Party Charter forward in 2024!!

All the big egos ( especially Mashaba) have left and started their own political parties; the DA is the most racially diverse political party in the history of SA with Black, White, Coloured and Indian South Africans in its Top 6 Leadership and many very young and very capable leaders of all races across the Provinces; and treading softly on issues involving Palestine and Israel!!

Only the DA voters in the leafy suburbs of Cape Town will be shocked when DA lose their majority in the Western Cape. The 2nd shock is when the DA go into coalition with the ANC. Lot of people are going to realise that Cape Independence is the only option left.

The ANC used to have the same patriotic passion that Mashaba exudes, especially during the course of struggle against Apartheid & Colonialism. The EFF is downright dangerous for the continued existence of this country unless they get the biggest pie of its riches. There are policies that Mashaba and ACSA have to change in order to fully address the perennial inequality, distress to our people engendered by Apartheid / Colonialism. Without acknowledging that there must be radical redress, and action activities to reverse that, no political party deserves South African votes.

One thing I know, ANCorruption ways are going to be really narrowed after the coming elections. EFF will not also win outright. DA might get a fair share of the votes. ActionSA will get a little bit of votes but more than EFF. Power will be shared, then coalition comes. This will help reduce corruption which may not be easy but we will go somewhere as a people, to rebuild and fix what ANCorruption have destroyed.

Look politically ANC has governed for 30 yrs.not everyone will agree with if it has been good or bad. South africa is facing serious challanges that make ppl uncomfortable HOWEVER its time in 2024 to put the "politics of ones self identity and thoughts" aside and look at the ISSUES ,as uncomfortable as they may be and vote for hope and a chance for better. Unfortunately multiparty won't make make it to even 35%, cos they are competing for the same voters ie whites and so called clever blacks(incl indians n coloureds), and those alone are not enough. DA will hit below 20% in my view losing most of their coloured votes to PA, white vote to ff+ and Uim and black vote to ASA. So they need more parties like PA otherwise Gayton will have no choice but to form government with others like he's done in jhb
