Until now, I have filmed partial or complete restorations of sewing machines, but this is the first case where the complete disassembly of a sewing machine was filmed.
There are many videos on KZfaq of sewing machine restorations, most of them are based on the same 'cliché', they are said to have been found in ruins, canals, garbage, mud... etc., it's all mostly a set up situation and the machines are usually of the simplest construction. This model that I took for restoration is a Bernina 530 Record from 1962, the machine was not in the trash but was in a gentleman's basement for decades, malfunctioning and barely movable by hand. This is quite a complex mechanical device and recording the restoration of this sewing machine in one video is impossible, that is, it is possible but it would take too long. I decided to make a series of 4 videos: 1. disassembly, 2. washing and cleaning, 3. assembly and 4. test sewing.
This is video no.1 disassembly, I must emphasize that it was not an easy task at all, most of the bearings were immobile and stuck, it took a lot of patience to disassemble it all, the whole video lasts about 58 minutes with accelerated playback x2, you can reduce it on the player if you want. Considering the complexity of the work, the video could not be shorter.!
My recording conditions are not the best, so I apologize in advance because every frame could not be shown directly.
