During Thane's recruitment mission, soon after arriving at Dantius Towers, you notice security mechs shooting at salarian construction workers. As you approach the elevator, you encounter one of the wounded workers. As you talk to him, he struggles to breathe, which you can alleviate by taking a Paragon interrupt and giving him some medi-gel. If you miss out on the interrupt, you can still save the salarian by picking the Paragon dialogue option, otherwise he will not survive.
As you proceed up the tower, you encounter an Eclipse trooper talking on the radio. Shepard will approach him and ask about Thane's whereabouts. As he refuses to give up information the easy way, you can take the Renegade interrupt and send him flying down. If you skip the interrupt, you will then have to pass either a Charm or Intimidate check, after which Shepard will end up letting the mercenary go.
As you get closer to finding Thane, you will come across a locked room. If you bypass the door, you will find several salarians hiding in there. One of them will immediately pull a gun on you, to which you can respond by taking the Renegade interrupt and knocking him out. If you miss out on the interrupt, you can either talking him down via Charm or Intimidate options, or simply let them all go without finding out anything useful about Thane.
