We did not want to destroy the creators, we we only fought back in self-defense. They continued to fire. We continued to protect ourselves. Their fleet was the monument to all of our sins.

It's a bit cold, but yeah it could have been prevented had Gerrel not been so blindsided by his hatred of all things geth. All they had to do was cease fire, and both sides would have gotten out of it alive. I think he can be blamed for being solely responsible for the extinction of the quarians. I always make sure I have a full paragon bar before I do this mission.

Tali must also be an admiral. You have to have very high paragon/renegade score to keep her from being exiled in ME2. (also you can incite the crowd if you gave vitor back to tali and kept regaar alive)

This scene would have been much more powerful if BioWare implemented some decent character body/facial animations. With all of the destruction around them, Shepard and Raan look like they really don't give a shit.

It's sort of explained in the game. She does try to call off the fleet, but I guess her superiors are assholes. As for why she doesn't kill Legion, I'm not certain, but I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation. Like she realizes killing Legion won't stop the fleet or something like that.

I hate how Legion refers to himself in the first person singular right as he's about to sacrifice himself- as if he's just now achieved singularity amongst all the Geth minds inside him right before he has to die.

No, it's not, actually. It gives the player motivation for not getting Tali and Legion killed/sold to Cerberus in ME2.

The Quarians don't retreat(well Gerral refuses to backdown, while in character it's kind of horrible...now I know what I have to look forward to with a Tali-less ME3
