I played a pure biotic character in the first three Mass Effects and was very disappointed when I tried to play one on Andromeda. I stopped playing the game for several months then came across this video. I used this build and it is amazing. Having a blast with the game now thanks to your work. Thank you.

Awesome! The first 3 games were much more 'Action' game than RPG when it comes to 'builds' and combat mechanics, synergies, etc. Andromeda took its' class/skill build system from Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning, and asks the player to search for complimentary skills and gear to build an effective character class.

Try annihilation+backlash+charge, with recharge speed and shield refill. It's a close range biotic support, you get the aoe, charge in the pack, kill shit with an auto fire hesh, protect and deflect damage with the bubble. It is fun and asks you to watch your shields to decide between firing some more or getting protection. I will try crafting a second auto hesh with vintage heat sink so you never have to break Backlash to recharge

@@tlotpwist3417 funny how this was the build that made you come back to biotics i mean they're woefully underpowered compared to anything shooting with a turbocharged gun but even as far as pure biotics go this one is pretty weak take backlash as an oh shit button take lance make it shield powered and get the shield reave on annihilation and switch ur profile to vanguard and you'll realize this build was someone cosplaying as the real deal... which again still sucks compared to gun damage if you must play a classic adept at least do it right by taking singularity and pull and all the shield reaving upgrades that way you'll get something similar to the original trilogy with you playing as a backline aoe nuker instead of whatever this build is i mean its so bizarre he takes annihilations which makes u wanna play up in their face with shield powered skills but then hangs back and pews with an smg pull and throw which have their cooldowns nuked cause of annihilation then he takes the fusion mod of rapid deployment to compensate which in turn kills his gun damage this build is just poorly made all around it does nothing well if you wanna play a caster you should take the fusion mod of adrenaline your powers will basically always be off cooldown and your gun damage wont suck and do yourself a favor and use an AR instead of an smg cause that'll make you do an extra 25% biotic and combo damage with shatter defenses like literally everywhere this build could've gone pear shaped it went banana shaped instead

Great video- even years later it's still extremely fun to play around with different builds. I have been using nearly the same build, but I like Lance rather than pull - I supplement that with having my throw also be a primer. Throw on a adrenaline mod and recharge doesn't really matter anymore.

Personal opinion... Use the armor augmentation for 50% improved skill cooldown, and -30% weapon damage(cuts to 15% on AVP upgrade). Run, pull throw and singularity with insanely fast cooldowns...about 4 seconds for pull and throw if spec'd right and around 8 seconds iirc for singularity. I would substitute some reaction range increases on weapons and armor for the damage, so the explosions get a bigger area. If you want to run Annihilation, then you want throw and Lance and it is a more up close build. This gives you a huge increase in damage because you are always blowing things up, or throwing them off the map....one combo damage explosion for 100 or 2 for 80 if you do the faster cooldowns. Using two exploders with annihilation keeps things blowing up, and using singularity with pull and throw doesn't incur the cooldown penalty thus again more explosions. Almost everything I can set up to speed cooldowns I do on my Adept....at level 119, she is a goddess on the battlefield.

i'm about a year late to the party, but i use a variant of this. pull, singularity, throw for my "take cover and stay at range" and then on favorites 2, i use "charge, annihilation, lance as my "get in, wreck it, go fast". still focusing on recharge speed, and combo power. wrecks anything very quickly. very satisfying

After playing with singularity I like it a bit more than Annihilation - it primes basically everything, including shields, and doesn't destroy cool downs. But being a moving prime bomb is fun too :D

Great video. I am now using a very similar build. I swapped annihilation for shockwave and play more of a ranged style. Shockwave is awesome as it primes and detonates.

Adept is hands down my fave class. My 2 fave loadouts is Pull Singularity Throw & Throw Annihilation Lance I use the adrenaline fusion mod on my armor that instantly recharges powers when I kill enemies. So the slow recharge on Singularity is non existant. Too fuckin fun...

V. V. Late to the party as i decided not to buy on release (despite having all 3 ME games) as the bad news reviews put me off. Cost me five bucks to buy this year and what a bargain. After watching god knows how many vids, reading tons of builds i tried yours....epic fun - combo explosions everywhere. Cheers. Loved your DAI vids back in the day too. Ps. I feel like a hamster on crack with this build😁 pps but i did change one thing - charge for both mobility and finishing what was not already dead insted of anhil. Just strikes me that anhil is more of a close range vanguard thing - even tho it doest seem to play well with charge, the vanguard go to power.

Combing weapons with biotics seems the most fun for me. Allowing me to snipe and jet around while singularity recharges. Backlash is super usefull for this play style let's me get safely to cover

This just brought me flashbacks of ME3 MP and playing as the N7 Furry. The class had Annihilation and throw as well, and when it dodged, it actually teleported, instead of rolling. It was a god tier class that I used to abuse the hell out of.

I have been using charge/nova to get in close and do so much damage. It really helps my survivability against most enemies bc at my level charge completely refills my shield bar. Also I can rush down someone from so far away it's not even funny, and i have nova spec'd to where it primes them for whatever other ability i want to use as a trigger. usually throw or lance

Biotics were stupid powerful in the first Mass Effect game since they went THROUGH shields and armor, it nice to see a build that can nuke enemies with biotics again. Nothing like being a wallking nuke, am I right?

Decent build but a tech/biotic hybrid is better. Two pieces of pathfinder armor and two of Angaran Guerilla, plus explorer profile give me 100% restoration and defense for my energy drain. Add charge and a scattershot shotgun and spec your passive ability barrier to the max and I can't ever lose my shields. I use the special mod that instantly recharges powers upon kill and one on my shotty that gives 25% shields when the clip empties. Running with cora's shield buff and Drack's survivability mean total quick destruction of everything regardless of the number of enemies. Perfect. Never need ammo or anything that health regens because I never lose enough shields to cut into my health. Charge in the middle of the action and spam powers and close shotgun and never worry.

I tried this one lots of fun and very powerful. One of the most powerful builds I've tried. The pull and the throw did a lot better at long distances then I thought. The powers very dynamic of course I play insanity. I also did an engineer build that used incinerate, overload, and energy drain. Let me clarify I only used an Ushior pistol. The old school way. To see which one be more powerful. The tech did not play as well at long distances But the damage over time effect with the armor damage and the double detonator the Tech was more powerful. I have one for you to try. I call him the FLAMING VANGAURD, use charge, annihilation field, and incinerate. Awesome fun it will make really cool videos. The fire effect with the charge and all the flaming enemies.

I'm running this currently at level 25 but instead using cloak for black widow one shots. I'm specced to refill shields when cloaked. I also run with an ushior for the damage boost because it's always at full clip. My primary is the valkyrie rifle with auto fire, beam emitter and heat inducer which makes shields and armor on enemies trivial on insanity.

My adept build was very similar, focused on biotic combos, I just use a different set of powers. I used Singularity, Throw, and Lance (mostly because I think it's cool). Clearing rooms with the aftershocks from detonating the singularity primer is really satisfying. Its also fun trying to time hitting someone with Lance one you've Thrown them (I think its an achievement).

Your combos would have done much more damage with just throw - the detonations and chain detonations are buffed. Lance is garbage for adepts.

@@NinjaFlipsTV thats not true if u run it shield powered and start chucking lances you can throw 3 or 4 into a group of mooks caught in a singularity and kill them all way faster than with throw its more risky cause of shield drain but diffferent strokes for different folks i would be hesitant to take advice from the guy who combined anihilation throw and pull with an smg and thought that was a good build you made an entire video showcasing the most suboptimal adept I've ever seen and adepts are already suboptimal compared to someone just shooting with lots of damage buffs

Nice build, I run something similar. Double Throw, Double Incinerate, Annihilation. I switch to Singularity for bosses. The added tech allows me to get team support for my double pistol set up. I am using Bio Converter on an Ushior pistol so life support is needed. The other pistol is a Hurricane with shield bypass, electrical conduits, and bio-converter. I also have an Ushior with the mod that gives +20% if the clip is full, always on, since it has only 1 bullet

If you're using double throw you are losing the *one* thing your adept is actually good for - combo damage. If you're using bio converter like every other 'Call Of Mass effect Duty' style player, then you are, once again, losing buffs to the *one* thing the adept is good for - combo damage. And if you have points invested in tech, those are points not invested in biotics, which, once again, wastes damage you could be doing with combos.

Sorry, I was not trying to suggest my build over yours just wanted to add to the caster style gameplay. I had moved away from combo damage because combos do not always proc (in my experience maybe half the time/other people might be different). Which is why I did not spec all my gear to support it. I never played Call of Duty so I do not get the reference. I like bio-converter because I don't have to worry about ammo.

I am way late on this game but I have a question I think you can answer: you said you can use the d-pad to tell Cora to use her powers (by which I assume you meant just target a specific enemy or move to a particular spot) but every time I do that, whoever I'm ordering around will just camp in that spot indefinitely and inevitably die because they won't ever move away from it. I keep having to reload because I've accidentally pressed it and companions get stuck in a room for entire quest arcs. Am I missing something? Great video, btw. Revelatory, in fact.

Its been a long time, but if I recall your dpad can send a squad mate to a spot if u don't have an enemy targeted. If your allies go to camp a spot, I believe u can call them back by holding down on the dpad

@Ninja: I stumbled across this videos and I have a couple of thoughts. Why not the Fusion Mod of Andrenaline? If you want to cast quickly enough (and since you kill pretty fast I think) I believe that Fusion Mod is better in practical use instead of Rapid Deployment. Also, I know Rank 6 of throw has more combo detonation damage but wouldn't the "double throw" have better results since you can detonate +1 target, and that means more damage in total, and more likely to detonate again to another enemy etc.

Good one. The Double throw just seeks a 2nd target, not an extra detonation. No, the single throw is +30% detonation damage, *and* +25% cooldown, and everything gets Blown TFU anyway - but I *really* like the thinking, for what it's worth. As for the Adrenaline Mod, If there's an active singularity, which is the one that takes 9 months to cooldown, it's not effective until it collapses, and only then does the Adrenaline kick in (as far as I know) Pull and throw are basically instant anyway once you dump some points into Biotics and such. If you're running Annihilation, the tankier enemies aren't always insta-kills, which means with annihilation active and no Rapid Deployment, you're waiting *forever* to create detonations. True enough, insta kills would reset pull and throw, but those are faster *all* the time with RDM, which is in effect on all enemies. I think Adrenaline would just have some impact on foot soldier mobs and such. Really, RDM compensates for the Cooldown penalty annihilation gives you, so you can still use pull and throw fully upgraded almost instantly anyway

IMHO fastest clearing build is adept profile with charge/annihilation/shield powered lance with combo damage on N7 gear, Helios Icon helmet, shield regen on kill on chest armor. You can just charge with about 3s cooldown (with 1s on charge animation), prime target with annihilation and lance once or twice to destroy everything. If anything dies you get full shield back, if not back away (to get then out of annihilation range), charge back and prime them again and repeat. This destroys everything other than super heavy units (fiends, remnant and scavenger heavy robots or architects). For the super health sponge targets I use turbocharge/stealth/invasion with N7 assault rifle to annihilate them. This build is so ridiculous that I stopped using it, because even on insanity it kills whole rooms without any challenge.

Wow, just seeing this a year later. Probably got this already, or moved on to another game, but: save away from Kiosk, reload that save, check again. Sometimes it's not there several times in a row. Also, the water vendor on the Krogan planet when you first land sells them, but they're a little more expensive.

I speced my character for this build but waited on armour until I could make lvl X7. I speced that just like the video but I can't tell a difference in combo damage. maybe it's better spent on recharge?

How about incinerate and shield drain and charge, everything focused on increased range and priming and detonating. Works very good with sentinel. Might be even better with adept, specially with gear that increase combo power and range, with elemental ammo and cryo gauntlet.

No tech bonuses to damage, detonations or cooldown with an Adept. That's why it works good with a Sentinel - tech.

go for the guns first, pref with cryo or disruptor ammo. The detonations carry between them

Damn...I wasn't hoping to fire a single shot but I guess there's no other way unless you change the abilities. I've been using a similar build only with faster recharge speeds and an asari sword and an ushior augmented with vintage heat sink. I didn't want to have to use the favorites loadout as well.

I recently went back to the pull, throw, annihilation and found myself to be more engaging and being more alert when using this play style. The other set up got me killed a couple of times on insanity due to being so reckless. Lol. With your loadout setup, I use Recharge Speeds and the Asari Sword to destroy enemies. As for the destroyer, I use cover and the i-frames of the asari sword to get into Annihilation range to deal Biotic explosions. Still watching your video, as it really inspired my build. This guy says it with such confidence I went and built it, because I never played adept before. It's so bad. Even in the video (example being at 14 around minutes when it takes like 15 seconds to beat 1 armored krogan).. I mean, maybe it's a very good adept build, but with a vanguard build, the krogan would be dead in 5 seconds tops, for me this adept build is just boring, and I very much disagree when the author says "adept is the strongest class". It's not.
