A mass eviction of asylum seekers in Glasgow has begun as part of a housing provider's lock-changing programme.

Serco, which provides free housing to about 300 people in the city, first announced that it was issuing eviction notices last July.
The Scottish Refugee Council have now been contacted by two men who say their locks have been changed.
The Scottish government has written to the new Home Secretary calling for her to intervene in the mass eviction.
Elizabeth Glinka reports and Kirsty Wark is joined by Scottish Labour MP Paul Sweeney.

Especially when it is FGM... FGM affects 99% to 100% of the population in Somalia... what is the British Taxpayer going to ferry all the women in the country? They need to grow some spine and change their culture and stop using excuses. These wasters know fine well they are fleecing their host country and bleeding the place dry.

If asylum fails they should leave. Why do asylum seekers get properties when our own people have to sleep on the streets?

I'm a 50+ yr old male.. when I used to apply for a job or claim supplementary or unemployment benefit I had to tell them everything about my history till my birth certificate to my school education to my previous jobs, and sometimes my passport details I was bangs to right. They would check police checks and everything. now eastern europeans, asylum seekers, refugees and anyone one not on the radar can come without any checks they are free to come no checks no issues. Some off them come do some bad things and then go somewhere completely to a new area. Or go to a new country. Amazing.

The more of these people come in the more this country will suffer. J ust remember all you people who wanted them here that NHS waiting times and lists will get longer, crime will rise, appointments to see a doctor will lengthen, if all this has not already done so some cant even speak a word of English but know where the DWP office is and HOUSING DEPT. get ALL of them OUT.

They are happening in such numbers due to the colossal amount of illegal/ economic migration. I understand their frustration but there has never been an endless pit of money we can shower on people, god bless them and keep them safe in their born countries.

They are starved to death by Priti Patel and Peppa Pig it seems and chased into the cold and rain to die of pneumonia whilst still having the legal opportunity to appeal their status, whilst Peppa Pig and Priti Patel have full knowledge of this, yet mercilessly seek to deprive them of their appeal rights???

This is all so ring, they think they are entitled to come here, and take jobs, money, and food from the people mouths that are already destitute for a start, our veterans, and think this is fair. They need to make there own countries better, we give them enough aid to do so, they can't have it both ways.

This is because she did not apply to come into the country, she took a chance and she has been here for a few years. The British tax payers are keeping her, now her claim has been denied. She always knew that that was a possibility. Please apply from your own country, I know a couple that did that and have been living here happily for over five years.

My issue is that people from say, Glasgow for example..wait years on social housing whilst asylum seekers are housed quickly...

the asylum system takes around 2 years to process an applicant then they can draw the appeal process out for around another 3 years - 5 years that costs working tax payers about 15,000 pounds per years per person including housing, food, living money, healthcare, etc., times that by the 10,000 mentioned as failed seekers and it has cost 150 million pound in tax payers money!!!

You have 2+ years to work out a way to become an asset to a country and you don’t do anything to am,e a loving or to show immigration that you want to become a successful member of society. You can’t wait until you are denied to start complaining and raising the alarm. Help people by all means, but it is a two way street.

The failed asylum seeker has never had the right to work! That's the problem- they are starved to death in a bid to dissaude them from appealing their status. The practice resembles the slave trade, it seems.

The first lady is lying....no wonder she was refused asylum. FGM is not such a major issue that should make someone move to a foreign country. You can simply move to another town within your country! She is not genuine at all; she is just comfortable where she is.

I notice a few homeless people in Glasgow when I;m passing through. Strangely enough they're all white and speak English with a Glesga accent . Why aren't they being shown the same concern ?

See, I don't have a problem with legal immigration and genuine asylum seekers. Immigrants who come here to work, to pay taxes, and to fill a role in society where we need labour is great. Asylum seekers who genuinely are more than likely to be killed or otherwise tortured in their own country, through no fault of their own, should be granted asylum. But I hate, absolutely hate, people who come here and think they can take us for a ride. If you've failed to seek asylum in the UK, that's for a reason. Don't be so entitled!
