Hi - welcome to this weeks mass making workshop. This week, we are making what I would call the original Book Page pockets, as created by Patricia Viramontes. These can be altered to include any style of papers and decorating, just experiment! Hope you manage to craft along, and get some serious mass making done with me during these workshops which I am hoping to upload every Tuesday. Many thanks for watching, and I would really love it if you could give this video a like and subscribe to my channel, Tinax

It makes me so mad when creators apologize for things people complain about. I've been sewing professionally for over 40 years and I sew slowly. The faster you sew, the less control you have. You sew your own way. Do it on or off camera. You are a joy to watch either way.

Oh thank you Melissa for your kindness, I am not great at sewing, so felt I had best apologise, as I wondered if everyone felt the same way the other lady did. Thank you for your thoughts after years of sewing, it makes me feel much better x

I totally agree with you. The faster you see the easier it is to make mistakes. With that said I do think that you could have done most of the sewing off camera.

Oh Tina, congratulations on having your sewing machine placed at the loft! I'm so happy for you! I don't care if you stitch slowly or not, I think your craft is interesting to watch, so please do not feel you have to apologize. It is exciting that now we will see you sewing some of your projects. And the pockets are lovely, both versions (glued and sewed).

They are great pockets because of their versatility and easy make. I’m glad you finally have your machine up there with you🥰. No, it is not boring and the sound is very muted and anyone who has ever used a machine knows there is sound involved. No need to apologize for the ad fiasco...it wasn’t your doing and pretty much everyone had the same thing happen. That envelope you decorated was GORGEOUS!

You do whatever you want Tina, we love you whatever you do. I must say your machine is a much nicer sounding machine than some, either way I still watch through it, I mean that’s part of the time we spend together. If we’re crafting with friends we just go ahead and chatter over the machine. You are so considerate of us all. I did some of these pockets with a indoor plant book instead of writing but now I don’t know how to decorate them.😏👋🏻💕

I needed somewhere to plug in my sewing machine because I have boxes under my desk. I plugged in an extension cord and have right on my desk so now I can plug in my sewing machine and charge my tablet and phone. It is great that you have an electrician in the house. Good thing that my husband is really handy fixing things. You know how hot it has been... our ceiling fan in the family room wasn't working right. He looked up what to do and he turned off the power first and took it apart and cleaned all the dust then tightened it. He fixed it. I need to be reminded what to make and it has been so long since I made these pockets. I glued 2 pieces in the middle of the paper. I will sew them later. I have had the glue mess up the tension in the machine so I down put glue on the edges.❤❤❤

How wonderful you have your sewing machine in such a convenient place now! It's a great addition to your videos. (And I think going slowly, especially on paper is a good idea. So don't apologize for it.) Perhaps your dream had something to do with your current efforts to organize your craft space and clean up the clutter. You have said you find your clutter inspirational and so the dream is your subconscious saying not to over do the organizing😜😁😂

love the tip about turning the page upside down! whomever it was that made the comment about your sewing slowly being painful to watch was above lucky to have the skill of speedy sewing from birth...the rest of us struggle with learning to thread a machine, keep two pieces of fabric or paper together while stitching, and heaven forbid sew a straight line. sorry but petty people annoy me, be thankful you share your talents with the rest of us struggling crafters. keep up the wonderful work!

Everything was great! The sound was no louder than any other artist I watch. The movement was minimal, not bad at all. As far as your speed, the person who made the comment has the choice to fast forward. No one is forced to watch anything "painful". No need to apologize for how you do things. This is your channel and you keep doing you. I thought you did fine on your speed. The pocket turned out great. Thanks again for sharing.

Those are great pockets! One of my favorites to make! I love that finished pocket so much! Really beautiful! I didn’t really notice your sewing machine sound. I think quick things on the machine or showing a few is ok but maybe not a full mass making on your machine for those that don’t sew at all, they might find it boring. You absolutely were not the only channel hit with tons of advertising, Gayle and Amy both got hit pretty hard with 8-10 ads per video. It was awful and very annoying but not the fault of any of you. It looks to be fixed by most everyone. Thanks for the mass makes, great job showing both ways to make them. 😊🌸😊

Hi Tina, I'm so happy that you now have your sewing machine upstairs! Your machine has a very pleasant sound as sewing machines go, and I was not bored at all while watching you sew, so ... there is no need to apologize for anything. As for your speed ~ you need to sew at a speed that you are comfortable with! I love Patty's Pockets as well. She has sooo many of them. I wonder if she has a play list, because I would love to make one of each of her Pockets and place them in a book for myself as a reference. Just a thought 🤔

I’m obviously quite a few days behind in watching your videos, and yes everybody had the problem with the ads it wasn’t just you. Your sewing machine is super quiet and not irritating at all except for the beeping. I had no idea that sewing machines existed without a foot pedal. Since you moved the machine a little closer it looks like you don’t have to hold the button in the whole time that you’re sewing. If you have to hold the button in the whole time then you wouldn’t have both hands to use to sew because I’m not very good at being straight if I don’t use both hands, but I think this it’s a great idea because someone without legs or someone paralyzed could still sew. They need to make a camera with a left hand shutter button for my friend who can’t raise her right arm.
@shabbydabbydoodah
@shabbydabbydoodah 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Lyn for your feedback about the sewing. Yes I just press the button to sew, and then press again to stop it, I don't have to hold the button the entire time, it's super convenient, and like you say fantastic for someone who doesn't have the use of their legs. I'm sure they are probably working on variable cameras as we speak, there doesn't seem to be much that isn't available nowadays. x

Tina you might be about to change my life. I cannot use a foot peddle so I put it on the table and use my hand to press it but it’s very awkward. I never realised there was a machine with a hand switch up on the machine. I am off immediately to research yours.your machine has a very pleasant purr not irritating at all and as for someone complaining about your slowness that’s just silly slow stitching is very relaxing to watch and can be necessary for certain types of sewing. Oh Ruth, I am so pleased that this might be a great solution for you. I honestly don’t think I have even plugged the foot peddle in, as I’ve always just used the hand button. Thank you also for your understanding about the slow sewing, x

Sorry I forgot to say, my machine is I think a Brother FS40, my Amazon link is for the most similar that it would allow me to link. You are the second lady to mention that she is no longer getting notifications for videos, it’s so annoying when they change settings x

My machine has an on/off button on the front. It took a bit of getting used to in the beginning, but now it is really a good thing to have.

Shabbydabbydoodah it’s Dorie not Diane. I knew it had to be somewhere in the UK because I have a friend in London with the same kind of accent. I am from Michigan in the US. I absolutely am loving your tutorials

Tina, so many of us have almost begged you to quit apologizing over the last couple of years and to believe in yourself the way others believe in you. Here is the way I see it: if we don't get that negative comment or the dreaded thumbs down, we aren't reaching enough people. Not everyone will agree with your style or mine, or anyone else's. Sometimes I think that people complain because they don't know what their own style is or aren't happy with themselves or insecure about themselves or their work. The sound of the sewing machine is the sound of creating happening. Going slow is a good idea. It's hard to control a fast sewing machine, especially on paper and/or on small pieces. I have been seeing for 40 years and I go slow. It prevents so many mistakes. The only thing that I don't do is turn my pieces over if I can help it, only because the OCD side of me can't have the bobbin tension on the same side as the top tension unless I absolutely have to, and then it's an internal struggle for me, not because it looks bad, but over the years, making garments, it was taboo to do that. But it looks fine on our paper projects and even creates more texture and interest. You keep doing you. Over 20k people love you for you! Most of us are so excited that you finally got your sewing machine up there with you. We love you Tina! Blessings and Hugs 🤗

I had to stop and listen to a part of this video again. While you were sewing and there wasn’t much to watch, I was listening and reading comments until I heard you say 200 pounds. Since in the US we deal with dollars, my first thought was pounds of weight. I could not imagine a sewing machine that heavy. Of course you were referring to the cost. I was very relieved for whoever had to bring it up the stairs. 🤪 I had no problem with the sewing or the sound, but in cases like a mass make, you simply do the same thing over and over. That could get a bit tiring to watch even with your chatty conversations. If folks are watching to learn how to stitch on their own makes, a few times should be sufficient.
