On 11/9/2023 the Cape Cod Central Railroad hosted a field trip from the Falmouth, MA Public Schools to give students a ride on the Falmouth Line and Cape Main. The train departed North Falmouth, ran to Taylor, then south to the Great Salt Marsh, before returning to North Falmouth. This video shows the deadhead move from Hyannis to N. Falmouth, follows the excursion, then the deadhead back to Hyannis at the end of the day. This was a rare occurrence as very few passenger trains depart North Falmouth every season. Usually all passenger excursions run south to Pocasset before switching directions and retreating northbound. Despite the minimal passenger use as far south as North Falmouth, Mass Coastal freight trains run here regularly to access Otis and the Upper Cape Regional Transfer Station.
Also of note freshly painted MC 2011 made its first run to North Falmouth after being finished a couple months back.

That New Haven livery on #2011 is outstanding. She is one sharp/handsome locomotive. Tip of the hat to the Cape Cod Central and all others involved in her preservation.

Very cool to see, great job capturing this. Didn't the Cape Cod Central have an ex Amtrak F40PH at one point?

Wonderful shots- fall on the Cape! Where exactly do the rails end in N Fal- Is it just south of the platform or do the still go past Silver Lunge?

They end about a quarter mile south of the platforms just south of where the Otis switch goes off to the east.

Great video. Could you add a map of the area to your video please? I was born in 1954 in Taunton, Massachusetts. I left this area in 1983 for Virginia. My memory is not used to be.😊
