I am almost 90 and I still want to get up and march with this music. However standing up is not as easy as it once was. Nevertheless I can still sit up straight and be with the band in spirit. I have watched these many times and always my tears flow like Niagara Falls. But they are HAPPY tears. Thank you so very very much.

How fortunate Londoners are to have one of the finest military bands on the planet in residence. I just love two front ranks of trombones clearing the boulevard with such a fantastic sound. I just love British low brass sound. It lets one know that the British Army has arrived! I was fortunate enough to see this great ensemble in Minnesota back in the late 70's while I was yet in high school. They performed at the old Metropolitan Sports Center where the iconic Mall of America stands now and they blew the walls down. How I wish I could have claimed UK citizenship to permit my enlisting in either Her Majesty's Grenadier Guards or Her Majesty's Royal Marines. It would have been an honor to wear the redcoat and bearskin and perform with these incredible musicians and work my way up the chain to become a drum major to lead this ensemble in performances for the royal family. The Brits have the monopoly on military precision and pomp and ceremony. The first march, "Scarlet and Gold", should put a smile on everyone's face. God save the Queen and bless the Grenadier Guards bandsmen!
@louiss25954 жыл бұрын
Very kind words, thank you. Though when it comes to precision, I think the Chinese and Asia minor countries do a fantastic job... They all even look like clones... But in pomp and style, yes, I think we monopolise that :)

If you talk about bands here in Belgium, people would look at you as if you were talking about dinosaurs and mammoths. Hopefully the British government and especially the British Army will continue to value their bands. Bands marching through the streets put a smile one anyone's face and make people happy.

Rhys Hughes, I don't know if you still check the comments about this fabulous video you made, but I want to thank you for it. I've watched it several times already, & love it more than I can say. Each time I notice something different, too. For example, at 6.25 just after they've made that splendidly smooth turn around the corner at the traffic lights. we see the back of a policewoman and then a youth in a yellow bicycle helmet...and at 6.27 the much decorated drum major closest to that side turns his head while marching, & seems to watch the youth doing something in the bicycle's basket. At 6.30 that drum major turns his head left again, seemingly to eye a moustached man in a blue top with a white stripe on its sleeve. I am in awe of that soldier's vigilance and ability to keep in step at the same time.
@trapezemusic2 жыл бұрын
You are very observant. I also spotted the drum major looking back at the 6:27 mark but didn't know the youth was his concern until you pointed this out. Thank you.
