I wouldn't say music is my most important aspect, but games like NieR owe EVERYTHING to music and those games are incredible for it.

Tucker is making the classic mistake of assuming that because he knows all the theory, everyone ese does, too. You can't just reel off a bunch of concepts and rules to a lay audience, even if they are enthusiastic about the subject.

Lighting and music are in service to atmosphere. Atmosphere is in service of tone and themes. Tone and themes are in service to characterization and narrative. Characterization and narrative are in service to story. Thus, Tucker's most important thing to a game experience is the Story. You can beat Halo with the music turned off easier than you can beat it without shooting. What you can't do, is beat Halo without using any mechanics. In order to do that, you'd have to "play" without activating a single input. As a writing major with actual writing and game design experience. Tucker's explanation of the difference between story and storytelling is inaccurate and his use of terminology is really mixed up.

I stopped listening half way through cause tucker wouldn't fucking move on from lighting and sound. And i honestly dont give a shit if he was trolling I've got better things to listen to then that.
