A short clip of myself using my 1959 MF35 23c diesel with 735 loader. It has been used by my family since new. The sand I'm loading was later spread on to the football pitches where I work to help out in the wet conditions.

Thanks matt for the compliment! I decided to restore the loader around 12 years ago, as it hadn't been used for about 25 years before that. The bucket itself was so corroded and perforated, that I had to fabricate a new one. The loader arms were also pretty well pitted with rust and needed a fair bit of P38 filler to get them smooth again. It probably isn't the sort of loader I would like to use on a daily basis. It overhangs the tractor a fair bit and puts quite a bit of weight on the front wheels (probably should've put more air in the front tyres looking back at this clip!). Without no power steering, it does exercise the muscles in your arms after a while!! It does have the original concrete block on the back to compensate for the weight being lifted at the front though!

Interesting story. Glad you took the time to restore her. Looks like she's ready for another 55 years of service.

13 VMX I know the feeling mate LOL. I got a MF135 with front loader without power steering and even with my concrete weight it exercises your arms when shifting heavy stuff. Mine too has pitting on the loader arms so I will try P38 filler when I next repaint them, thanks for the tip. I too fabricated my own normal bucket as mine only came with a manure bucket. Now 20 years of owning it and I need to rebuild the manure bucket.

Hi, just wondering how to you get the lift arms to stay up with the concrete weight, while the loader is in use.
@13vmx488 жыл бұрын
Hi Luke. You need to have a T-bar hitch fitted to the back lift arms in order to use this loader. The T-bar locks the links in the Up position, otherwise the links will forever be going up and down all the time with the loader. The T-bar is also useful as it's part of the automatic hitch system.

Hi, Just curious if that tractor has power steering? I have a 35 without and a front loader on it and it is a bear to turn. Wondering how much weight you guess is hanging off the back and how much that helps. Thanks.
@13vmx487 жыл бұрын
No power steering on my 35! I can't really say how much weight is hanging on the back of the tractor, but the concrete block does make a significant difference. It would've helped if I'd pump the front tyres up on my tractor before filming this clip. I usually have 25psi in them, but should've pump them up a bit more when using the loader. I don't really find the loader so bad to use if you're able to keep steering to a minimum. As you can see in this clip, I have placed the other tractor and trailer in such a position that I don't have to do much in the way of steering when loading up, and also only steer when the tractor is in motion! My dad at one time had a few metal weights placed on the rear concrete block too when loading to keep the weight off the front end, but unfortunately, these were stolen by some scrap men at some stage.

@@13vmx48 We had a 165 with a loader and we used to put 40 psi in the front tyres. It made a world of difference. we also had a great big 'home-brewed ' concrete block on the back, which fitted on the pick-up hitch T bar, which was a great help. I visited my old place recently and bugger me if that old ballast weight is still there parked in the stackyard but I don't know if the 'new' tenants use it!

me and my friend have a 35 x should we be worried about a loader guard and roll bar
@13vmx486 жыл бұрын
It would be foolish of me to say not to worry about fitting a roll bar! If you are uncertain, then I would advise you to fit one to be on the safe side! I'm probably being a bit of a hypocrite myself as I did actually have one fitted to this tractor, but I removed it as I had to keep lowering it to get under low entrances. I'm lucky in that I only really use the tractor on level ground. Compared to other small tractors I've used, this one seems to be quite stable. You can also adjust the track (change the width) of the tractor by adjustment on the front axle and also the rear wheels (you can remove the centre discs from the rear wheels and bolt back on on different side of the rim lugs, or opposite wheels) if you want to increase the width of the track. This should hopefully add a bit more stability to the tractor. As I say though, if you are unsure, then please fit a roll bar to be on the safe side!

do you use a banana loader hydrolic valve to switch from the bucket to the loader arms ??
@13vmx488 жыл бұрын
+TheThefarmer96 There is a 2 way hydraulic valve situated under the Position Control lever. When you want to use the loader, you link the 2 way valve to the Position Control lever with a removable pin. The Position lever then becomes the selector lever between the loader arms and the bucket! You use the main Draft Control lever to pump the oil to whatever rams you select. You may be able to see me in the video alternate between the two quadrant levers. When you move the Position Control lever down, that selects the arms, and move it up to select the bucket!

+13 VMX witch presure port do you use for the loader ? on the right side,on the plate on top right , or fro the tiping pipe port ?
@13vmx488 жыл бұрын
+TheThefarmer96 The port used is the one on top of the lift cover just to the left if you're looking from the back of the tractor. Both the trailer tipping pipe and the loader pipe both come from the same port. They are both separate pipes but are linked together at the same union.

What is the manufacturer/model number of that loader?
@13vmx489 жыл бұрын
Tom Morton Hi Tom, the loader is a Massey Ferguson 735 loader. To be precise, the loader carries a brass model plate on the side which says 'Massey-Harris-Ferguson' Model 'FE35'. I would imagine this was an early Ferguson 35 loader, before eventually being given the 735 model number!

I own a 35X and wouldn’t dream of fitting one of those old MF loaders to it. The bucket capacity and length of forearms are far too great, causing undue stress upon the entire front axil/stub axil/ bearings and steering system. The MF 65 and 165 range would better tolerate such a loader.
@13vmx482 жыл бұрын
Fair comment, although those loaders were designed to go on those tractors. There is a counter balance weight on the back links, again designed for the tractor, to relieve some of the weight on the front axle and steering. I very rarely use the loader now anyway as I take the tractor to shows. The loader certainly isn't a good travel companion when on road runs when you hit some of the dips in the road, so I've stopped taking the loader with me.
@noelkeane56032 жыл бұрын
My Da had one on his 35x back in the 70’s. On uneven rough conditions, steering demanded good arms and sound shoulders. What heavy manual farm work they brought an end to. The Quickie loader came along in the 70’s and it was a more compact design with a much better and faster attaching/detaching linkage system.
