Massive CGC Unboxing... IS ALREADY BACK?

6 ай бұрынI didn't expect this batch back to me for another couples months! Maybe it's part of CGCs efforts to win us back, but I've defenitly noticed some AMAZING turnaround times. Now I just need them to address my older submissions (lol)

Nice results - you must have a very good grasp on what CGC rules consider a 9.8. As to your turnaround time... interesting... with that turnaround time, with that many books, simple conclusion - CGC now has virtually no back log for modern books. Perhaps submissions have dropped off due to the economy, or comic price declines (or the two most recent scandals and people are waiting for the improved slab?). Anyway, best of luck selling through the stack, I'm sure they'll go quickly - nice job!

Great to see so many DC books. Plus you're making me a bit nostalgic. That "Hush" run was published about the time I started reading and collecting. (Didn't start until I was about 49.) I had to give away so many books from my collection when I moved from Richmond, VA. ( think I gave seven long boxes to a dealer. I just had no time to look up values.) I'm surprised to see quite a few of them appreciated. Oh, well... That probably happens to most collectors. You lose or give away a book and it becomes valuable. Congrats again on the baby.

I usually feel better when I;m at 65% or better on prescreens. Some people I've talked to are saying they've found that recently CGC is being a lot more lenient on 9.8s, of course that could vary very much grader to grader.

I think its actually pretty standardized - I've had about the same success rate on all my recent submissions - right about 70 percent or so

I went pretty mainstream with my choices on this one so I’m surprised to see you surprised! Haha. I don’t submit books below the $80 minimum and everything here is $80 - $500

I dropped off 6 books to get the blue label & 1 book with 3x witnessed signatures (getting Megacon yellow label) with CGC on the last day of Megacon and my blue label books are done and mailed to me in less than a week. I have to go pick them up at the FedEx warehouse since the driver claims no one was home to sign even though I was home all day. I haven’t looked at the grades yet because I want it to be a surprise when I open the box and see everything for the first time graded.

Batman 579. INITIAL orders of 50k. There are TONS of these out there. It was still a top 20 book into 2001 and a top 30 book into 2002. Then, well, a gent named Jim Lee came along....

December was very slow but now it's really rolling. I submitted two 25 issue submissions and an eleven issue submission. The two 25s are press and grade, the eleven was just grade. The eleven was back in about two weeks (all 9.8s!). The others are out of press and scheduled for grade. I expect it to be done and back in a couple of weeks.

It's shocking how fast FMVs fluctuate these days. You have to be very selective on what you send in for grading and hope the value remains stable whike waiting for it to come back. Nice score on that Hulk for sure. Should peak when the Thunderbolts movie comes out.

I returned to collecting about a year ago. Many prices seemed totally bonkers. I was also surprised to see how much movies seemed to affect prices of books.

Too bad, there are some good ones in the bunch. Only buying cbcs slabs now. Cgc needs some major improvements before I’ll buy again (quality control, new cases, etc). Interesting how almost all are 9.8….seems like they are being more generous, I wonder why…😮😅

turnaround times are insane right now. my first ever submission arrived at CGC on January 30th and FedEx dropped them off at my house today. it was only 3 books but I’m not complaining about an 11 day turnaround.

What does a modern comic cost to be graded and sealed with CGC?

Depends on the value. They offer discounts if you get some of their memberships. My submission i did for my first submission to them cost me almost $19 per comic, plus what shipping would cost me. If you send really old books or really high value books, it costs more.

If you get their premium membership, you get a credit that is equal to the cost of the membership for your first submission. It costs $150. So just send them like 10 comics or so to make it worth it. Premium gets a 10% discount and Elite membership gets a 20% discount. I would grade now while costs are low. During busy times when the market is going crazy, the costs go up and the turnaround time you wait is way longer.

In archeology copper age came before the bronze age. Why in comics is it the other way around?

Archaeological ages reflect when humans actually used those metals for tools and weapons (bronze = smelting of copper + tin. Copper used on its own much earlier). Comic collection ranks ages chronologically in descending order of preciousness or value of the metals (platinum traditionally being more valuable than gold, though not for a few years).

Two things 1) I use all grading companies. Not just CGC. For years 2) This is literally my livelihood. I cannot afford to discontinue all grading with CGC

@@MintHunterComics That's a very mature attitude. They really do seem to be trying to make things right. Considering how valuable some of those books are, I'm surprised theft and "switcheroo" scams don't happen more often. It's completely understandable you would get many of your books graded by CGC. Like it or not, you can get more money for CGC slabs.
