When folks choose to plant hedges I don't think they realize how much care it takes to keep them in check and looking good. I bought a house that had 70 feet of hedge and once I got them trimmed to a width and height that I could manage (they looked horrible for a while) I had to trim them often to keep them looking nice. You do a fantastic job!

Hedge cutting looks sevier but very beneficial the hedge was getting very wide the top gets unstable and trimming promotes fresh fence new growth ,it will green up before winter,a trimmed up garden is more likely to be used.

Alot of criticism in the comments. You were paid to do a job and you did it. Most likely neighbours were complaining about the hedge taking up their drive. And the hedge will return to its same growth within one year or two. You did phenomenal work, loved your narration with this one. Yes, a hard trim was required here. This specie of shrub will bounce back in 6 months time frame. It's a resilient shrub, no worries! Now you see a better view and walkable area near home. Terrific job on this yard, well done. 👏

I do garden work,when i need to top the hedge especially privet or beech?i use long reach hedge trimmer head angled and cut from the ground while walking along it gives me more straight cut amd then you can ise the ladder to top rest of the hedge but now you have a straight line to work with,of course if its too high can’t do it with long reach trimmer have to use the ladder

Our neighbor did that to his hedge a few years ago and it never grew back. Just little bits of green here and there. He ended up ripping them all out.

Depends…sometimes it can grow back, the problem is that wasn’t look properly after it…

My hedge was the opposite, it grew even more vigorously, just need to water it when cutting it back this severely.

Depends on the hedge. Box (buxus) will recover from a severe trim, whereas privat might struggle.

It’s gonna take 1 or 2 years for full recovery… it’s true doesn’t look great now, but it wasn’t my decision 🙌

I had a hedge like that at my previous house, believe me, with regular watering it will be green within a couple of weeks. Those hedges likes to be trimmed severely, makes them grow even more vigorous.

Took ours about 2/3 years. It does look like a harsh thing to do and is extremely ugly to look at, but it does grow back lovely.

Should have left the greenery at the back fence and tidyed it up and the same with the vine on the little house. Would have made it more serene. Just an opinion. And the hedge could have been cut back and still saved some green.

I think U should post a WARNING sign saying the name of the poison U sprayed. Especially for Children and Anyone coming in contact to those areas. Alert the next person that cuts the yard so they can wear some Protective Gear. to prevent exposing themselves to any poisonous/harmful dust particulars Breathed in or contacting their Skin. U should protect yourself as well. Not just ur eyes.👀 Read the labels.👁 Otherwise, Good Job...👍🏾
