🚨Edited to add - I will always do/decorate how I want but why not take advantage of this wonderful community & your opinions? ☺️ I’ve always been indecisive & just like I ask my girlfriends, I like asking for YOUR opinions too. Sometimes I get tunnel vision & can’t step back to see something in a different way. You all have a great ways of giving suggestions that I can then consider if it makes sense for me. So, I searched, Cleaning Motivation on KZfaq as I have the past few days. I'm trying to come out of a depression slump. I lost my mom unexpectedly back in September 2022, then a month to the day later, my grandpa and my dog on the same day. My son moved out, we are empty nesters, I lost my job last Friday, etc. Your video is super bright, inviting, and makes me happy. I love how you clean, and you make it look so easy. I'm 46, and you would think i was raised in a hoarders home! I want to be proud of our home and want to clean it and deep clean it. I live in PA, so I understand the weather. LOL I also love when you spoke about our "hormonal days." Its so true. I also love the way you decorate and organize as you go. When I clean, thats what I like to do. I also love to rearrange furniture and I personally like to rearrange then clean, but, my husband hates that. (Cause he's so much help!) 🤭 I prefer to clean when no one is home, I feel more productive! At any rate, thank you for getting me motivated to clean! You are amazing and seem very genuine and kind. I have been watching you for about 2 years now! You are part of my bed time routine 🖤 Quick question.. I love cleaning and organizing and I usually look at it as my “get to” or my happy place ,my kids are older 9 and 11. I find myself getting angry/overwhelmed some weeks when they don’t “pick up” after themselves. I feel taken advantage of sometimes… like they don’t care about what I do. Do you ever feel that way? Anyone else feel this way?

For the office, if you and Mike will be sharing it I have an idea! You could move the cubes to where the desk is currently and do either 2 desks or do a nice built in double desk along the entire wall where the cubes are currently! For the cords, you could get cord covers or build in a cord “shelf” under the desk! Just an idea! My boyfriend and I share an office and we would love to do a built in double desk, but we’re renting right now 😅

To save $$ and decorate your office, I’d get some type of decorative peg board with hooks and display office supplies you already have to use. I’ve seen so many truly beautiful patterned, rose gold, etc scissors, staplers, calendars, etc

I think the office makes sense. That’s exactly how I would lay it out too! You can put outdoor chair cushions in the entry/mud room built in to the protect the wood and make it more comfy to sit on when putting on/taking shoes off.

happy sunday! first of all, i just wanted to say thank you for showing how you clean and how to keep on track with cleaning. im turning 21 this year and i wasn’t ever really taught to clean so i adore channels like this to help me stay on-top of my apartment!! second of all, my dad was a construction worker for 25+ years and he swears by clear-coating over wood to protect it! you could do clear varnish (something that hardens) and it’ll make it easier to clean as well as protecting it!! :)

Hi Jill I read your comment that you sent to Jamie and I can relate to you as far as having terrible anxiety I don't wish it upon anyone but one thing that I can truly say about this sweet lady here Jamie is that one if you want any kind of realness or motivation this is the woman to watch she will definitely give you the motivation that you need I have watched her channel for a while now, and I can honestly say that she is the real deal. I am blessed to call her friend, she has motivated me more times and inspired me more times than I can say and I actually have a cleaning business and have been doing it for over 20 years. But this lady right here is a sweet sweet honest soul and you will definitely get the motivation and inspiration that you need to carry out your day. And if you just want to talk to someone about your anxiety someone that shares in that with you I would be more than happy to talk with you about that I suffer with it everyday. But I just wanted you to know that you are definitely on the right channel if you want inspiration and motivation she's the real deal and I just love her pieces

Needed this! We’ve all been passing around a virus for a week or two and I’m about to clean and sanitize this place. I also need to declitter but I’m going slowly room by room. I have 7 ish months until I’m leaving my job to homeschool all 3 kiddos (I do one right now for medical reasons) my house is always cleanest and manageable when I’ve been home. I think I was destined to be a stay at home wife and mom and now it’s finally happening :)

Maybe the old kitchen table could go into the basement for kids crafting. Also, some textured or very light patterned washable wallpaper would work on the mudroom unit base.

I bought the Bissell Pet Hair eraser almost 4 years ago and it has been great! It still holds its charge really well and is easy to clean and use. The long nozzle attachment is great for corners and the rolling brush works well on our one set of stairs and on the couches/chairs. I have a cat and a toddler so it gets plenty of use even with a robot vacuum in the house as well.

Love your new home - so beautiful! I like the way you set up the office: 1) you can sit at the desk and look through the glass door into the main living spaces, and 2) if you're sitting at the computer doing a zoom call then you have the shelving unit behind you as a background. If the desk were on the opposite wall, then you would have the glass door looking into the main living spaces as your "backdrop". We also have cubbies in our mud room/space. I purchased some lined ones from Threshold and they have held up really well for a good five years now.

I took a break from cleaning videos, but needed some motivation today and you did the trick!! I had a similar locker set up at our last house and I found some pretty cabinet liner paper to lay on the shelves that we put our shoes. Very easy to clean, protected my white paint and pretty to look at 👌

Thank you for this video!!! As far as the locker situation.. magnolia home has a paint protector they sell it at lowes in the paint section!! It’s affordable and I’ve used it seems to work pretty well! It’s like a waxy material and it drys and it’s protected

I would love to hear more about the hormone research! I’ve been on a mental health journey for over a year and was so surprised about how so many things are explained through understanding our cycles more. And with the sock issue…buy all the same socks in white. I know it’s not as fun, but makes life so easy when you don’t actually have to match the socks because they all are matches! Honestly Jamie it’s lovely that your figuring it out and finding your style and trying to just find your way because that’s the reality of moving home and doing it up it genuinely could take up to 2 years to finish your home A there’s finding your products there’s deliveries delays you might decide you don’t love what you start and send it all back that’s the absolute beauty of interiors just try to have fun with it you waited a long time for this moment enjoy it at the end iv the day if it feels right to you then it can’t be wrong

Hi Jamie! I love the wicker basket idea for the coat storage area. I would suggest adding felt pads to the bottom. Sliding the basket in and out may scratch the paint in those cubbies. About the seats for the entry bench thing - could you add a cushion to each? The girls would have something soft to sit on and they would protect the paint. Love your house, it’s looking beautiful!

I think your office desk is just right. If it were on the opposite wall your back would be to the door, with the desk in the position you have you can see who enters without being startled from behind. When my kiddo's were small I made myself an apron with large pockets that I could put things in when I found something out of place and then when I got to the proper room for it, wah lah! I also made a small pocket for 3x5 cards and a pencil so I could write something down as I thought about it which saved me from going to my desk to write it. Just a thought.

Happy Sunday Jamie! I love how you did the office. I have my desk like that also because I don’t like seeing a bunch of cords either if it was in the middle of the room. The only thing I can think of for the backpacks/coat seating area is if you put a cushion across the bottom. I got a Eufy handheld vacuum from Walmart like your and I love it! For my family for socks, we stick with 1 color. I have 6 people in my household, 3 adults, 3 kids, and my husband has black socks, I have white socks, my sister has black socks, and my 3 kids all have white Cat&Jack socks. Every now and then we receive socks as gifts and we'll use them for a little while, but then when the match just can't be found I toss it and we go back to the same socks we've always had because all the socks match the same. My boys might get black socks later on but for now white is working.

I have to tell you that your videos have been popping up in my feed for about a year. I didn't watch them yet alone subscribed because I felt that I was following enough cleaning channels. They were helping me getting things done! Then your video of your last cleaning of your old house popped up so I decided to watch. I was immediately hooked. Jamie, after you clean your sinks, drop a few drops of essential oil in the drain, you'll be amazed by how good it makes the kitchen and laundry room smell. Another KZfaqr does it and I never did till recently and OMG what a difference !! I'd put my desk in front of the window so I could see out, but you never said where Mike's desk was going to go.

Jamie, the clearcoat will make it, so the paint doesn’t chip off. ✨U can get a shiny clear coat or a matte clear coat whatever u prefer.

Those baskets look awesome in the cubbies.. you went on that room and I saw all the gray and white and I thought what a nice blank canvas to add some natural touches like wood/ wicker and plants! Then you busted those baskets out like you heard my thoughts lol.

Hi Jamie! I love watching your videos so much. I have mentioned in prior comments that we are building too. I have spent a lot of time trying to figure out our office layout. We will be having built ins made and Tom wants his desk in front of it facing the windows. I have been stressing out thinking about cords. I love your layout but will keep watching to see how you add in your workspace too. I LOVE that you have a Cricut !!! I have that too… I use it for scrapbooking. In my new home Tom will have an office near the entry and I will be making one of the bedrooms MY craft room!!! LOL. ❤

I love the office the way you did it! As far as those lost socks - I started putting my little no show socks in the laundry bags coz they were getting lost way too often. I know what you were saying about Home Goods, finally visited my first time and I spent $180!! I didn't care, first time I've been shopping for fun stuff like that in months! Enjoying your videos. You work so hard.

Honestly if I was you I would talk to whomever made your built in cubby's and see if they would be able to install pull out drawers in the bottom instead of doing baskets! This is super easy to do and makes it so much easier for everyone to keep looking clean and tidy. I would make the faces of the bottom drawers like a dark blue or dark grey to add some contrast and hide the dirt!
