The question is how did you put away all this food ?! I would like very much to see a video where you explain and more importantly show what you do with your produce immediatly after the harvest and how you store it, preserve it, cook it etc.. Some recipes would be nice because i always end up cooking stuff the same way and it's boring. Inspiration is very much welcomed !

I saw in a previous video that you guys said you were having a difficult time growing ginger because of the lack of season longevity. When I went to college in the UP at Northern we had a class where they took us to a farm that uses Hugle or Hugel mounds (don't know the spelling) to extend there growing season. Basically its a mound of dirt on top of a downed tree that decomposes and allows for a longer growing season in colder climates. Great channel and Great advice.

Greetings from NW Wisconsin. Love your abundant garden, we didn’t plant ours until mid June, but we are still getting green beans, zucchini, onions and a friend gave us a big batch of beets. Our tomatoes are done but still are ripening on the vines. We are making a big pot of tomato sauce every day, then freezing it for the winter. Your advice about pruning zucchini has really been a great thing for our plants. Thank you.

I would use the giant tubs with peat & topsoil/ fertilizer/mulch combo with the self wicking setup. You can put them on a flat platform with wheels to keep them mobile & use a shade awning if the sun is too intense. They use a lot of water to start (like 4 or 5 gallons per tub) but then they reuse the water from the tub & you only have to add a gallon or 2 per week depending on how many plants you have in the tub & how hot it gets. That way you are not trying to reverse desertification in the entire southwest. You have much better control of your soil & your water usage. Plus you can still leave them out if you ever do get some rain. And you can wheel them into a garage or shed at night if you get varmints or neighbors or an early cold snap.

It is nice to be appreciated! Thanks for responding! I meant to say that there are a number of videos about making your own self-wicking tubs but Leon is the best. 2 pieces of hose or half dozen gallon water jugs or even some laundry soap is what he recommends to keep it on the cheap. The way he describes it, you can put a teaspoon of liquid fertilizer in the water with every gallon you add & stake several pepper plants to grow vertically & get a lot of use of the soil- (even thought it is not actually soil because truly just 'dirt' would compact too much). I would recommend worm composting as long as you put some scraps In just for the worms to eat so they don't eat the roots. (Fruit & vegetable peels, leaves, coffee grounds & eggshells is all you need) worm tea is the best fertilizer by almost all standards. Do you get cactus fruit out there much? I want to make jelly out of some sometime. It's been 25 years or more since I traveled through NM! Lot of beautiful country! Let me know how it goes if you decide to try it! Good luck!
