Customs hit the jackpot when the Specialist Rummage Team finds a ton of cannabis concealed in a truck in Dover. An intimate search gets to the bottom of a suspected heroin smuggler at Gatwick. In Cornwall, the captain of a ship lies to the officers aboard Customs Cutter Searcher, about how many cigarettes he has on board.
In Gatwick and Bristol Airports in England customs agents check baggage and travellers to uphold allowances and prevent illicit activity and substances from entering the UK.

It's just an excuse they use. People are justifiably nervous in a place where they routinely x-ray, arrest, and dry cell people, or just cause us to miss flights. So yeah, being "nervous" is totally normal and dispositive of nothing (except being in an airport where they can. . .)

The customs officers have always been lovely to me. Two years ago I went through the Red Channel because I had 200 cigarettes in my hand luggage but I had about 15 in a packet in my handbag and they let me keep them. I think as long as you are truthful they will help you.

The only way this story would be of interest would be if you had hidden cocaine in the suitcase but because they were so focused on stopping people saving on the outrageous taxes involved in tobacco they didn't notice.

In another country I held the things in my hand that I had questions on. Asked the first guy if these are ok. He says ok and points to filling in the customs form. So I do that and I still don't know if the sandwich is ok so I continue to hold it. Another person writes in a book with my passport number and says not allowed. So I don't know if I've declared it or not or whether it's a warning. They didn't really say. I wish they'd known I was asking for advice before hand.

I used to be a radio/radar technician on Weatherships. We used to smuggle stuff by filling hollow masts with our duty free goodies. We would hide one "sacrifice" duty free in cabin ceilings but our big smuggled loads were missed, the dummies being satisfied with 200 cigarettes.

Same in Poland however there are tobacco leaves "collectors". Such "collector" buys whole leafs for his "collection" directly from grower. It's unclear what is he doing with them afterwards 😉

The UK has some of the highest tobacco taxes on earth. That has made a market for cheaper tobacco smuggling. And then they say they need the high taxes. So to catch tobacco smugglers. The same with cannabis. There will always be a black market. As long as regulators tax legal Cannabis off the market.

They let the old man keep all those cigarettes. Gosh I do not believe him when he claims he can smoke so many cigarettes in a day or a week. At that rate you develop smokers cough , have yellow fingers and smell of cigarette smoke. For me he is smuggling cigarettes.

I have an issue with them saying it is a pat down search, but instead there is a nude behind and squat being done. Understand the need to be thorough, but I sure wouldn’t consider the last as part of a pat down.

A good thing. It is 2021 and people should know by now that even if the drug itself is not that horrible ,it still is a lot easyer to get stucked and have to increase the stuff until one is hooked on harder stuff. A lot of addict have gone that route. It is something about getting the WHOLE picture.

@@alphadonkey4545 Hm. It IS the unhealthy way of using it,that create most of the problems. The same issue as with alcohol, maybe. But two wrongs is worse than one , right? Clearly a law does not stop all people. The same goes for other things, as well. Some people even think they know just as much as a science person who have a long study and practice. Some people will hurt themself no matter what. But the prize isnt always only at the person who hurt. It cost sosiety a lot. If you understand what i try to say, despite my bad english ?

Coming up on the next coming up will be coming up again with coming up... its like every 5 minutes there is a preview for the next 5 minutes.. in a 30 minute block of TV there are at least 6 minutes of commercials, that bad enough, then they add all these previews and recaps... you end up with 10 minutes of actual content and 20 minutes of BS

It appears you Limeys simple don't catch on! We here in the States outlawed liquor and that raised the price so high the mobs were developed and consumption increased each year. Your aversion on cannabis simply keeps the street prices high and you actually do little to stop the flow. Mostly, you spend an enormous amount of money fighting a battle you will never win and you continue to appear rather pathetic and backward to the rest of the world.
