You might want to put the extra utensils in your canning kitchen. Then you have all the tools handy and are not having to run back and forth between kitchens. Just an idea 💡.

Last time I was having a sort out and donate day my friend down the street popped over for a cuppa …she asked if we were moving so I told her I was sorting stuff to donate …she asked if she could take nearly all of it to give to her sister who had recently left an abusive relationship with just the clothes on her back . I was absolutely thrilled that someone I knew could really benefit from my extra stuff 🙂

I always hate it when your videos are over. It's like saying goodbye to a friend you really enjoy spending time with. You're doing a great job with everything you do, from gardening & preserving, chickens, house, tips and tricks and just general conversation. You're such a joy! Thank your Mom for me for raising such a fine child. God bless.

Have you heard I’d Buy Nothing project? It’s a national project where there are local Facebook pages for you to post things you’re getting rid of. And people come pick it up for free! When I go through massive purges of stuff I love using it instead of donating to goodwill! It’s going directly in the hands of someone who wants/needs it and then after two days or so, I take any of the extras people didn’t want and drop them off at goodwill.

I gave away a ton of stuff around 5 years ago. I listened to all the Minimalist also. There are things I sure wish I hadn’t gotten rid of.

Whenever I declutter, I go by a 50% rule. I try to get rid of half of the excess items, but not more than half. And they go into a 3-month quarantine before donating. It reduces the regrets, and sometimes I do find things I had been looking for when I go into the quarantine cabinet.

I decluttered so much when I embraced the minimalism mindset and a lot of what I got rid of, I eventually regretted.

I’m not a big fan of clutter and it feels nice to have everything organized and accessible. My one big regret was I donated things that I would definitely use in the future, 3yrs later I’m still upset I gave certain things away that I can’t replace.

If you are planning a separate canning kitchen, you may want to keep the bench scraper and so on...

Becky- measuring cups are great for the garden when we measure different kinds of fertilizers and such. Use them in the garden supplies. I would ask family and friends to come go through your kitchen items before donating. I would love that if it was me

You can use the Lodge griddle on your new grill, along with your long handled set you didn’t want to break up…. yummy pancake time!!! :-)

When getting rid of things, Becky, keep in mind you'll want duplicates of some things in the upstairs kitchen AND the basement/prep kitchen. Also, if you & Josh ever have a second/vacation home (common in the PNW for folks who like the beach or mountains) you will need to fit out a kitchen there. With the cost of even used items, these days, it might be wise to just box things up & store them away, since you have plenty of room for that at the new house.)

You might use that meat fork now that you have started grilling more. :) They are great for getting roasts, steaks, etc. off the grill. Also, when I have extra pie pans (I accumulate them somehow.) I use them as housewarming or new baby gifts with a fresh pie inside!

For the pasta attachment that was a gift from Josh - it would make a super cool decoration on a book shelf! It looks antique-like and represents you as a person so well. That is personally my favorite kind of decor :)

When you box up items with multiple parts(juicer, mixer with attachments, etc) put the entire components in a bag. To make even easier for Goodwill workers, label the juicer, pasta maker etc.
