It looks like it would be worth investing in one of those granulator machines that chops thin wires and separates copper from plastic, sounds like it would save you a lot of time and pay for itself in time. I'd also look into a way to chop that leftover pvc , maybe one of those hammer mills or crushers, if it means you'd have less space taken by waste, less trips to the garbage if you can compress those into bales or something like that.

can you do comparisons if selling wire i stripped possession to striping and how much more u made stripping and time cheers
@ProjectShopFl
@ProjectShopFl 8 ай бұрын
Next big load of copper I will try. But off hand on average you will gain 1/3 if you strip it when buying it competitively. On bigger wire it's definitely worth stripping. I usually know right a way how much I can make. For instance if I bought 1000lbs of #1 insulated wire I usually pay .20 less than what I can sell it for. 1000 x 2 = 2000 I'd get 2.20 per lb So just selling I could make 2200. 200 for just selling it off. Now take 10% off for insulation and you will have 900 lbs Bare bright copper worth 3.31 = 2889 and a gain of 889. The difference would be 689 and my set up I can strip that in less than an hour so I strip it all. lol hope that helps.

@@kennethcrowther5675 I started out just buying HID transformers. I built a custom machine to process them. Then all the customers offered to sell me copper and all the other scrap they had because I was already there buying scrap. I offer free pick up and I match or beat the local market prices. I make my money processing the scrap with custom equipment. I can compete with the local scrap yards because I sell to an exporter and get the same prices as local yards.
