Massive protest erupts across India against Central government new hit-and-run law

Bus and truck drivers on Jan 01, held protests across several states of India against the new hit-and-run law. This triggered difficulty for commenters travelling to different places. Private bus and truck drivers on January 01, enforced a 'chakka jam' across Haryana. Members of an organisation representing the drivers also staged a protest on the streets of Bhopal at the Board Office intersection. A similar protest also broke out in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur, where bus drivers staged a demonstration against the new central law. With the buses anchored in their sheds, regular commuters and interstate passengers bore the brunt of the protests. The ongoing strike has impacted the movement of thousands of vehicles across the protesting states. Notably, the new central law attracts a 7-10-year prison sentence for drivers falling foul of it.

A driver can easily leave the place if he/she is threatened by the public but they have to report the police about the incident. also those people involved in mob-lynching will also punished under updated criminal laws

The penalty is towards those who hit and run away without even caring whom they hit and don't inform police. This law is not for those who cooperate with system and help victim during accidents. The law is for all including elite and rich drivers.

You cannot "hit and run" simple as that some hooligans drive under influence of Alcohol and get away with Murders those aren't Accidents; this subset of Drivers need to be put in jail for Murders along with liability clause for their recruiters to recruit these unskilled/ unruly guys. Dashcam should also be made compulsory in every vehicle, especially in trucks and other heavy vehicles....... This will also provide evidence of any accident and make it easier to identify whose fault it was in the accident. It will be helpful for protecting those heavy vehicle drivers who are blamed for the fault of others.

Drivers of the state transport buses are one of the most reckless drivers which also shows how shamefully they are protesting. This will apply to any person driving in India. Government should not budge on this.

Indians want world class things, but will not become world class themself first. 1) Owners of heavy vehicles MUST get insurance. This covers the driver, passengers and anyone else in case of accident. 2)All drivers need to understand, they are basically operating a weapon of destruction - only then there will be respect on the road 3) This will never happen in a country like India where everyone just wants to worry about themselves and save time money at the cost of anything. They even voted AAP for free water and power. A poor country with great governance will always choose to remain poor, thats the curse of India

What if HIt and Run occurs when the victim who got killed is driving in the wrong direction at full speed. I don't support this law bcoz here in our country ninety percent of the people do not follow the traffic rules, And if this rule applies there will only be torture and misuse from the authorities who wants to use this to implicate the innocent drivers, My main concern is not the law but the people who implement it as everyone knows our authorities are mostly corrupt and they will simply use this to make more from the law. First of all the questions surrounding it should be answered to the satisfaction and how this cannot be misused by the authorities. There should be punishments even for the authorities who misuse this law then only people could support this otherwise it will simply become another tool in the hand of authorities to torture the people. Steps to implement this 1.All the vehicles 3,4wheelers and above should be fitted with the Dashcams which are in working condition 2.People should be made aware of the traffic rules especially those who are living close to the National and State highways, Municipalities and corporations now a days have cctv cameras at almost every possible locations. 3.Speedbreakers and the necessary measures should be taken at all the roads which are connecting to the mainroads. 4.People are breaking the medians to make a small gap so that they can cross the the road at those locations which is illegal by doing this they are not only putting themselves in danger but also others.(Recently while i was travelling on the NH some biker who is trying to cross the road using this illegal gap got hit by the unknown vehicle and got killed, The other passersby stopped and called the 108 and the authorities as it was a busy highway people reacted immediately and even though everybody tried their best no one could save him.) In this case even if the Driver who Hit the biker informs the authorities then also there is no possibility of saving his life as the hit was so bad. All he can do is to run away from the site in order to escape from the punishment. 5.First govt should ask the road authorities to setup proper Road signs at appropriate locations, there are speed breakers on NH with no proper signs/warnings at appropriate locations. Recently a scorpion driver lost his leg(Prateek Singh YT channel has the details about the accident ) due to safety barrier which was left to open without it being buried in the ground/closed properly. Govt should work on these issues first before makin/ implementing such laws 6.Seperate courts should be setup for the speedy trials with timelimits because the roads are used by almost all the countrymen and noboby wants to loose their life with the long procedures of the courts. 7.I don't understand how come the govt came up with such law which involves the lifes of almost all the Bharatiyas as everyone uses the road. 8.Mere making of laws do not actually solve the issue if u do not address the root cause . Even though govt intentions are good at bringing this law the time at which it is brought was not Right. Most of my fellow countrymen who drives does not known a thing or two about Lane discipline and the vehicle drivers are notorious in shifting lanes without proper indication and crossing the roads without even looking on to the oncoming traffic and rearview mirrors

The main reason of protesting is because when a driver hit somebody the local people start beating the driver that's why the driver feel hesitate to stop the vehicle and they run away. Drivers are always in the support to help the victim who met with accident but the main reason of not helping them is of local peoples start biting the driver so the driver wants that there are also need to have the law to stop the local people for beating the driver to make them feel safe.

This protest shows the disgusting horrible mentality of truckers and bus drivers. I have experienced drunk bus drivers in India and I thought it was going to be the last day of my life. Nothing happened to the driver, he almost drove us off the ghats. This is a fantastic law and I applaud BJP government for this law. We need to live in a law and order nation for the sake of progress.

कानून कहता है कि अगर ड्राइवर किसी को दुर्घटना में मार दे तो उसे सज़ा होगी। भारत का हर ड्राइवर मान बैठा है की उसे सज़ा होगी। ड्राइवरों को गुमराह किया जा रहा है। यदि ड्राइवर किसी राह चलते को मार कर सजा से बचने चाहता है तो ये भी कहाँ का न्याय है??

This is absolutely wrong accident koi jaan buj kr nhi krta tabhi usse accident bola jata h aur haar baar driver ki galti nhi hoti h dashcam lagane ka rule laya jaaye pta chal jaayega kiss ki galti thi phir uss pr karwahi honi chaiye

@@SM-sb9fg here i standing for truck Driver i don't know why but society have a very negative image about them drunk driving is different case in this case they must be punished but as you know that even if its two Wheeler 's mistake people always take action on who has bigger vehicle

I don't know about the drama but this is serious issue truck drivers are most dangerous on Bharath roads they don't use signals they just merge onto roads where vehicles go at speeds of 120. It's horrific this law is not just for truck drivers any irresponsible driver.

Most drivers wont run away when they know they wont get beat up, i have seen with my own eyes once a bus driver hit someone, the whole village attacked the driver. So in that case, what should bus driver do?

The law is good. Itna tens Sirf nikammo Aur faltu drivers ko ho raha hai sayad, genuine drivers are happy with this. Solution - 7lac Aur jail ka tens nahi chhaiye to camera lagao G k aage piche, दारू nasha kam karke chalao truck 😂

Stop being a truck driver and see how nation understand absence of how truckers will impact national economy..else Vote against the government and show displeasure..stop wasting your time in news and protests.. nothing is going to change otherwise
