In this intense footage, witness the wrath of a massive blizzard hitting the Sierra Nevada mountains near Donner Pass and Lake Tahoe. The video showcases heavy snow, whiteout conditions, and blizzard chaos, leaving semis and cars stuck and stranded. Watch as trucks try to tow out semis and navigate through massive drifts over 20 feet tall. This winter might shatter the record for snowfall in the Sierra. Brace yourself for this epic winter storm! A great follow up to this will be ground saturation and mud slides/land slides and trees deciding to let go of the ground. I've been seeing all the signs of slides already. New cracks in the highways etc...danger is still present and will become more apparent with the thaw. Great video, amazing coverage!

I drove in the Columbia Gorge during a blizzard. The road was clear and fine, then i went around a bend and instantly hit a white out. It was terrifying. I couldn't tell where the river was and couldn't turn around. Drove like that for 15 miles. Please stay safe. Blizzards are no joke.

I came back to the bay from Kirkwood, Tahoe a few weeks ago (week of the president days), it wasn't a crazy blizzard, but it was snowing and it was pretty scary. Highway 80 was closed, I lost one chain, not driving an SUV but a family van. We should be very thankful for all the ones that maintain the roads, and bring food and essential stuff to those areas.

I've been binging on these snow videos all winter. This is one of the best. I live in Sacramento and have been up there several times to check it out. Skied several times too. Ironic that l can't ski more. Why? Because its snowing. This spring should be a doozy down here in the central valley if we get heavy rain up high in the Sierras. If so l hope this guy provides equally great videos of high water in the American River. People are understandably blown away by this winter here. When this stuff starts melting All I can say is..... I live at elevation in Colorado and have been chaining my tires on my own big rig ( old term) for 43 years. Driver didn’t look chaine up. Perhaps I’m wrong. Thanks for trying to help him. He needs to be responsible and chain up. If an S.U. V. can move he can move also if chained up. You need two four shell drive vehicles tied together to get the tractor trailer going in that situation. Instead of proclaiming he can’t tow the big rig he could help. Most truck drivers in 2023 are not qualified to push a wheelbarrow across a Flying J truckstop

FYI.............The Donner Party, sometimes called the Donner-Reed Party, was a group of American pioneers who migrated to California in a wagon train from the Midwest. Delayed by a multitude of mishaps, they spent the winter of 1846-1847 snowbound in the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Some of the migrants resorted to cannibalism to survive, eating the bodies of those who had succumbed to starvation, sickness, and extreme cold.

I live here in South Lake Tahoe and yes you can get here because they do have the roads plowed and in one month's time, the storms will either be done or way less intense. Just make sure you're driving a four-by-four or a all wheel drive.

We had a Jeep Wagoneer this time. It really did a great job, we are going to ask for one from now on. The air bag suspension was so smooth and the clearance helped too

Does the railroad use Norden anymore, and, are the snow sheds still on the south side of 80 going up the mountain?

Snow sheds are all still there, obviously haven’t been in use for decades. They use that big giant plow engine you can see in the video. It’s really cool

Donner/Truckee/Tahoe, is more accustomed to this type of snow so usually stores are open, restaurants even. SoCal is a different experience when it comes to snow and what they are used to. Roads are a lot more narrow there as well IMO.
