Specialist firefighters were involved in a multi-agency operation to safely recover the body of a woman who sadly died at a crane collapse at a construction site in Bow. The crane collapsed onto a site where flats are being constructed and crashed onto two adjacent houses. Urban Search and Rescue crews undertook a complex rescue operation and used specialist equipment to search the properties. Sadly one woman died at the scene. The London Ambulance Service have confirmed that two people were taken to hospital with head injuries and a further two were treated at the scene.

Those Man prime movers are a serious bit of kit, involved with servicing a pair of them when I worked for a main dealer. Two alternators, four batteries , air suspension all round. The communications equipment looked like it could run a medium sized radio station. Interesting that where possible they weren't based in a high risk area. Theory being that in the event of a major incident they were less likely to damaged and therefore able to respond.

When the UK government first bought those New Dimensions M.A.N. Prime Movers back in 2004 I knew they were gonna be too big for our streets, especially those in the capital and our other congested cities. And man did they struggle to get through the streets of Bow on this day. Class video though. Awesome response, and such a terrible incident.

It seems to me that different cities including London need a specialist emergency rescue group, a fourth emergency group as it were after Fire, Police and Ambulance. All of these firefighters and their appliances and no fire, what happens if there is a large fire that needs attending to?

The truck at about 41s almost has a good warning lighting design: if only the individual lights flashed in an inside to outside bi-lateral symmetry; in synch with the grille and side warning lights; then the observer could easily and quickly identify the vehicle and its direction and rate of movement in a crowded road environment.

Happened couple weeks ago, one woman killed in her home, they never fixed the crane base to any stable ground and the weights weren't even bolted on.... The ground wasn't prepared or re-enforced and they used tiny pins not suitable for use with a crane of that weight.., absolutely crazy, nobody needed to die but this is what cutbacks looks like...

5:23 is that a police officer in the road? Why did he directed the car to stop there? If the car had moved on a bit it would have been much easier for the fire truck to get through. Why make it extra difficult for them and not let car drivers make a right decission on their own? Do they know yet WHY the crane collapsed? Great on scene coverage with all your clips!

Fire photos didn't go inside the cordon. If there's a major incident, gravitate towards where the any specialist or rarely-seen vehicles are heading. 5:28 why is the cop so angry? Thr car was clearly trying to make it easier for the fire truck to get by🤦‍♂️ and the finger pointing might’ve had him think he wanted him to pull over abit 🤦‍♂️ wanker

Because when a cop signals you multiple times to stop, you don´t drive. Even if you try to make it easier for the firetruck to pass by, the cop has a better eye on the situation than you in the car have.

SaveLive TV he just seemed like abit of a wanker the way he went about it and that car moving an inch or 2 to the left could’ve been the difference between the fire truck getting past or not

Clown!!! Because the camera was outside of the cordon, the most you saw was the part of the collapsed crane on the apartment block under construction. Around the back was the row of houses where the actual work was being carried out to try to rescue and recover, inside the cordon where the public, including the cameraman would not have had access.

what do you expect? The camera guy walking right through the scene and obstructing emergency crews and their work there? Of course you'll only see walking and talking at the edge of the scene ...

A company I was working for bought one of the old urban Search and Rescue vehicles. 20 grand 20000 miles on the clock complete with forklift. Bargain

If it came with a forklift are you sure it wasn't the old 18.5 tonne cbrne/hazmat trucks that some services phased out and replaced with prime mover pods?

Watching these sort of videos these days there seem to be numerous bods walking about, some with clipboards and pens. Have the emergency services become populated with pen-pushing incident managers on site?
