Maybe you can get Scott to compromise and do wood flooring and a large area rug. Would blend in Beautiful. The bookcase looks great

Sophia please stop saying you have no skills because you do every project that you do comes out successful even professional workers aren’t as good as you are . Plus many house wives are so dependent on their husbands that projects never get done most of the time . You are different you zoom right into it . You are a real trooper

I think your bookcase looks terrific. Don't worry about imperfections. Our house was built by professionals with all the tools and nothing is plumb. You make many of us want to guild things. Yes, invest in tools or rent them. We bought some pricey things and shared the cost and use with a few neighbors.

It's a joy to see you building something with the kind of tools I have available for projects! I love to watch DIY projects but it's demoralizing when they whip out $10,000 worth of power tools I will never own to finish a project.. I have a drill and a $10 miter box. You inspire me. :0)

you've done a beautiful job, well done. one year my husband asked me what i would like for christmas , my answer was a hammer drill and an industrial stapler/ nail gun, he thought i was joking but that's what i wanted, guess what he bought me, 'yes', a hammer drill and the stapler, and i use them regularly. keep encouraging us sophia.

I'm the same! I requested my first power drill for my birthday about 8 years ago and our friends pitched in without knowing what it was. When I opened it they thought it was a joke and all looked at the organiser, worried. They couldn't believe I had requested it 😂

It looks so good Sophia. When you go to remove yhe old carpet, make sure Scott is helping. So he will see for himself just how dirty carpets are. It blew my mind when we took ours up. And i used my carpet shampooer on a regular routine and had a rainbow vacumn cleaner. Now i love wood floors.

I think you will be happy with a grayish neutral carpet. It wont show lint and every little thing and it will let the walls and decor be the stars of the room. A darker carpet would compete with the walls and take away from the pizzazz.

Having wood floors helps if you have allergies and new carpet has synthetics, formaldehyde, and other smells that can be taxing on our health systems. Just a thought to consider. The shelves look great! Looking forward to seeing how you style them.

Sophia, that turned out awesome! Great job, I can't wait to see what the end result will be in the bedroom. I think those cabinets as night stands sounds like a great idea. I think you have earned the right to decide the flooring choice based on all the hard work and time you have put into your bedroom makeover. Get the wood floor look you want. If Scott wants to have a say in the decision, he should be working on the room right along side of you.

You could do the wood floor and just add a large area carpet to please you both 😊 The shelf looks great Sophia. Once it is calked and painted you won't even see the screws or the cleats. Just calk that back gap and you won't need the wood at the back to cover.

What a wonderful job you've done!!!!! You can rent those tools you need for the time you need them. Wish our laptops were made so we could talk to you when you are stuck on something or need advice--------wouldn't that be great!! You mentioned gray for the carpet color & that would be a good accent color for the blue/white colors but choose the right shade of gray----you can get samples to take home & play with.

Absolutely love your bookcase and can’t wait to see them all painted and the Emmys, your books, photos and treasures set up. Love all your ideas for your bedroom. You might want to check out Deco Wrap on the internet for making your fabric covered window valance. I have them for my dining room that I made out of a tablecloth and it is easy to do and install. Maybe Scott would compromise and go for a wood floor and a large area rug? If not and you get carpeting please be very careful with the color and make sure you take a paint sample with you when you go carpet shopping. Keep up the great work. I am so enjoying your bedroom makeover. Thank you dear Sophia.

Your bookshelf turned out great! Angles are so challenging. You might consider adding an "angle divisor" to your tool wish list. I have one, and it easily determines cut angles for inside and outside corners. Simply set your miter saw to that angle. Saves a lot of frustration and headaches! Menards sells one for $7.11.

Wow Sophia, I am impressed with your bookcase! It looks really beautiful. You definitely need to invest in a few tools since this is such an important hobby of yours. As for the carpeting, I think it's more of an American thing, I remember we used to have carpeting when I lived in the States, it was in the house, but never had any in any houses in Europe. I am on your side with this one, I really do not like it, and it can easily get stained and dirty. Also, since you are on a health journey, carpeting is really not the best for a lot of allergens and toxicity, please consider that and look into that. Wood floors are generally never cold, but you can add some area rugs, which can get more easily cleaned than a carpet. Rotting for you always! brava Sophia! 🌷
