Country is actually one of the largest in europe, but only 5.5 million peoples. only 18,3 resident per square kilometer as average in europe is 109 residents. Here it is really easy to be alone, forrests and nature everywhere.

My paternal grandfather was 100% Finnish. His family was proud that Finland was only country to fully repay its WW I debts to the United States.

@@Thomas-nm6xw Well you are both correct. Finland paid its debt to the US after WW1 (as the OP said) and to Russia after WW2 (as you said). The only country to repay in full. I don't know why they had to pay Russia since Russia invaded Finland, but that's a different issue.

@@carly4513 Ok, thanks for enlightening regarding the WW1 debt. Believe the Russians demanded a sum of 300 million dollars as part of the peace treaty as they considered the Finns "guilty" for starting the Continuation War as they were allied with Germany at that time. Most was paid in material things instead of money, Finnish shipyards delivered many icebreakers to Russia for free amongst other things.

I have respected the Master Chief for more than 30 years. Nobody ever did double back flips out of my C-30 like this frogman. He is a legend and we need more just like him. I will never forget him.

By the way, the REAL Finnish vodka is called "Koskenkorva", it's named after a city in northern Finland, its a hard word to pronounce for foreigners so dont worry about not remembering the name 😅

Koskenkorva is not a "city", it's a village. Also only a person from Helsinki would call Southern Ostrobohnia as "Northern" Finland.

The shoe comment is ironic considering that, when I stayed in Hershal's house at Gunsite in 95, his first orders to me at the door were, "were run this place like the Japanese. Shoes come off at the door". I'm scratching my head a bit over his mention of age. If I heard correctly, he said something about being 74? In 1995 while staying with him he stated he was 54 (he'd recently retired). That always stuck in my head because it was the same age as my Dad. That would make him 82 now. Which, makes him even tougher IMO. Such a great character.

I met the master chief in the summer of 1981 on the USS Nassau when we were in the med. I was a part of VMA 231 a Harrier squadron. Seals in our birthing area as they were going to stay for a few days. Found the chief to be at delight to talk to….. I remember that handlebar mustache

Maybe some misunderstanding. Original Finlandia Vodka brand was bought by Coca-Cola HBC in 2023, but its still made in Finland with exclusice rights at leats until 2035. This is how it works nowadays, couple of big companies just by brands all over the world and get money from licences etc. Same manufacturers "Koskenkorva" is bit like everymans version from it, not that fancy but works :D
