IT’S MOZART’S REQUIEM AND MORE AS THE MASTER CHORALE RETURNS TO LIVE PERFORMANCES ON NOVEMBER 19 & 21.
One of the most endearing works of Mozart’s vast repertoire, his Requiem has been loved for more than two centuries. The Master Chorale selected it to acknowledge what the world lost during the pandemic.
In these performances, the chorale will be joined by soloists Robyn Marie Lamp, Clara Osowski, Aaron Crouch and Jonathan Woody (more about them below), and accompanied by a 30-piece orchestra.
In honor of the Master Chorale’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, the November programs will open with works by two composers of color.
Adolphus Hailstork’s Lift Up Mine Eyes is a jubilant, uplifting piece written for chorus and tenor soloist. It will be followed by Jose Mauricio Nunes Garcia’s Te Deum. A contemporary of Mozart and one of South America’s leading composers of the 1800s, Nunes Garcia conducted the premier of Mozart’s Requiem in Brazil.
The concert will end with Ave Verum Corpus, an exquisite jewel often described as Mozart’s simplest and most emotional composition.
