I love this concerto. The best "student" concerto for the cello. All three movements are amongst Kabalevsky's most lyrically inspired creations. The slow movement is truly gorgeous.

1:33 the cameraman thought it would be funny to prank the teacher.

I would find it distracting if I while was playing, the teacher was doing bow exercises...

He seems quite calm to me.

Yeah a bit odd that he's fiddling around with bow exercises while listening

Wow, both the instructor and the student are impressive. First of all, I was a little irritated that the instructor was working on personal drills while the student played. However, the instructor identified what this student needed, and the student absorbed the lessons so quickly. Bravo! Well done.

Gosh... so many words on little physics here and there but nothing about what needs to be felt while playing this energy-packed piece. The student is technically equipped enough to do a good job, but needs that inspiration to engage his spirits in the performance.
