I've planted seeds and coconuts where I live that are growing although they grow slowly in general; I'm planning to again remove them and relocate to another outdoor area that they can be successful at their normal size at maturity. Thank you. Because of you I am now a master garden volunteer, taking arborist certification class and pursuing a degree in landscaping and horticulture. I loved your lectures.

Plants always seem to find a way to keep on living, I cut down a large maple in my front yard because it was encroaching on the house, the following year it shooted up tons of small branches right out of the stump. It wasn't gonna let me win lol

15:50 sometime city ordinances say you have to keep it back a certain foot: In my neighborhoods, all trees must be 15 feet back from the boulevard when full grown.

What if they client Demands that kind of work done to the tree? I know it's drastic looking but at the end of the day if the client said if you don't do it I'll hire someone else? Iv seen loads of trees like that in urban areas I know it looks horrible and it's harmful to the tree& can become dangerous over time. Tho again what do you do if the home owner is stubborn and won't take advice on it. We all can't afford to say I'm not doing it and walk away(

When someone hires a professional to come out and prune their trees, if they want that type of stuff done, do it, but only after a detailed explanation of why it's bad. When you know the facts and you know exactly what the results of the pruning will be, you can help explain that to them. If it doesn't change their mind I usually like to ask them, are you okay with paying us to ruin your tree? Or do you want us to protect your investment? In the end I usually will do it if that's what they want, but charge close to double my normal rate. Don't forget to have them sign a waiver of liability stating that you told them it was improper pruning and that possibly, the long term results will be failure of the specimen. Some folks are petty and will Sue in a heartbeat if you don't cover your ass. That's why sometimes it's best to just walk away, why call a professional if you don't want to listen to what they have to say?
