Fantastic! Doing pre-calculus in college right now and this type of stuff just takes a little time. It's not overly complex, but unfortunately, some professors seem to want to appear smart, as opposed to actually trying to educate. Thanks for breaking it down. Helps reinforce what I've learned so far.

I am taking precalc online and while most things I understand, these inverse trigs were causing me trouble. this video helped me out a lo because I wasn't understanding how the domain and range fit in. but after seeing it being explained on the graphs, it cleared it right up for me. thank you!!

You hear about so-called religious revelations but there are also learning revelations, when something really weird and crazy (that is what I sometimes call hard things) is suddenly made to make sense to you, sometimes within the space of a few minutes. I had one of those revelations thanks to this teaching video, for which I'm very grateful.( I couldn't understand my text book explanation of it)

Thanks a lot, the video helped a lot. Just wanted to know whether there is any formula for finding the domain of inverse functions with domain of normal function given.
@brianmclogan
@brianmclogan 7 жыл бұрын
the domain of the inverse function is the range of the original function. A function and it's inverse have the domain and range swapped

How do i calculate the range of 2-5cos^2x ?
@brianmclogan
@brianmclogan 7 жыл бұрын
the range of the cosine function with no transformations is [-1,1] the only transformation that affects the range is the vertical shift up at amplitude. In this problem the amplitude is 5 and the vertical shift is up 2 therefore the range is [-3,7]

I DONT UNDERSTAND, HOW DID YOU KNOW HOW TO RESTRICT THE RANGE? LIKE WHY SHOULD WE RESTRICT ARCSINE TO ONLY THE FIRST AND FOURTH QUADRANTS?
@brianmclogan
@brianmclogan Жыл бұрын
It’s a great question and one hard to explain on a comment but to keep it simplistic, to keep it a function it has to be restricted, and -pi/4 to pi/4 is the easiest
