In the Les Misérables movie i felt that Sacha Baron Cohen AND Helena Bonham Carter played the parts of Thénardier and Madame Thénardier very well, it suited their styles of acting.

I half expected Carter to start singing about her meat pies....

This is a different interpretation, intended for comic relief from all the sadness of the film. Sacha Baron Cohen is a comedian, and he lightens the mood excellently, which is what he wanted.

This is a 3 hour "show" with almost all singing. No one could possibly make out the lyrics. But after seeing this transcription, I can see why they don't super impose the lyrics above the stage like to do at many operas. Man is this bad.
