Port of an old classic, Sega definitely made this easier than it was on Nintendo.
I'd say the mechanics feel roughly the same, though the hit locations are looser on this than the other versions of the game. All in all, not a horrible copy of the original. -

Very short, but one of my favourite beat 'em ups easily. And one of my favourite Master System games for sure, probably due to nostalgia. The music, the punches, the action, everything feels just right. A 2 player mode where you can fight with, or against a friend would've perfected it.

I've always said the Master System was far more superior to the NES with its card game slot, graphics and sound.

It was.

Its standard PSG sound is certainly much worse than the standard NES/Famicom's sound, but yes, graphically it was superior to the NES. It just suffers from a small game library, with many titles that were developed by B or C-tier European developers. It's a nice console, that could have been a genuinely great system if it'd had more third party support. Unfortunately, it didn't. And a great library of games will always be more important than some pretty graphics.
@nebularain3338
@nebularain3338 3 жыл бұрын
In graphical terms the MS was better than the NES, but the sound and the games library wasn't anywhere near as good. To be fair though, nothing was as good as the NES' games library.
@jg2722
@jg2722 Жыл бұрын
@@nebularain3338 nothing can compare ? nes library has the most overrated games of all time. Most of the them were unplayable and too difficult to even enjoy. Mario , Legend of Zelda and Metroid are the best and most memorable ones. Sure , it was the greatest system ever when it came out but that was mainly because it was one of the only few gaming consoles to exist at the time. Back when you actually needed game manuals to beat the games or else you’d be completely lost. No actual kid could actually beat most of them without going insane after a couple years of trying. The SNES and the PS2 were easily the greatest gaming consoles to ever exist, which also have the best game libraries as well. Yoshi’s island and Kingdom heart? Challenging but fun. Can’t get better than that tbh. And that’s only 2 games listed, 1 from each console.

Graphics look really nice in this version, but unfortunately I’m not a huge fan of the new character designs. I’ll stick with the NES and arcade versions, can’t beat that cartoonish anime-style design that Kunio Kun is synonymous with.

I really wonder what was the thought process behind porting Renegade for the Master System in 1993 instead of any other River City Ransom game for the NES, considering there are like 5 and they are all more well regarded than Renegade.

Probably the best version of this game. The graphics are very colorful, it puts the nes version to shame. It even has odd color that ninja gaiden trilogy on the snes!! The inferior part of the master system was the sound though. You just can’t eat the amazing nes sounds!! Still I wonder what would have been a tmnt or double dragon 2 game on this system.

ill tell ya growing up mid 80's alot of arcade games started getting ported to home systems, nes, sega master system with 8 bit technology, was ok i guess for the time, But renegade was something nintendo missed out on when comparing versions.........The master system version is far better in everyway, most notably the graphics.....I always felt Double Dragon on the master system was better and closer to the arcade version, not dissing the nes but sega seemed better at porting arcade games
