Before you knock it I’ve never rlly trained abs and since I’ve been training them I can feel definition on my stomach like never before only two weeks in. Ofc I’m dieting and cardio but my abs are showing at a higher bodyfat

Tis true. But using hip flexors in core exercises is very important and there are other very optimal exercises for ab training. Not to say your abs aren’t quite that defined either. You are partially right tho I’ll give u that.

Just having a really hard time balancing myself on a bar and I keep swinging. While being on the dip station I can keep myself more stable. Hopefully I can get better and progress to a bar

@@hakobbasilfan4644 ah, I understand. While on the bar take it slow. Contract your lats to stiffen your back (don't just be in a dead hang with all the back muscles relaxing). Contract your quads to stiffen those and don't let them dead swinging as they wish. Then lift your legs using your abs. The thing is that most people just use their hip flexors and next day they get leg soreness. You need some time to get that mind muscle connection. Then after lifting your legs slowly descend them back and feel the abs burning. That's the key to not swing. You just need to get the legs up a bit and descent slowly to activate the abs. The movement is 2 parts, concentric and eccentric, it's not like the deadlift where you just lift the weight up and drop it don't with 0 tension. Or like doing a lateral raise, you abduct your arms in 1 second and don't just drop your arms, you slowly (2s) control them back and repeat the process. I found out that people that cannot do pull ups rarely can do leg raises. It might be wrong what I'm saying, but that was the case for me. When I couldn't do 1 pull up it was extremely difficult to even hang to the bar, let alone lift my legs up. Anyway, just use the dip position, because it's as effective
